Takes place during Shadow-Kiss (Third Book) after the rescue mission - Rose saves Dimitri from being turned.

Dimitri's POV

I rushed back to the Academy's safety with Rose in my arms. We were last since she had gone back to help me. Rose had gotten hit pretty badly but I had been able to escape and kill those who got on our way.

She had already lost a lot of blood on the way here from the caves. Jeanine was yelling at me to hurry up and at Rose to not die and at everyone that was on our way to move. She was scared and hysterical over the fact that she had to witness Rose die.

We knew now that she had died once, at the car accident that had killed Vasilisa's parents and brother. Vasilisa had brought her back with Spirit, which was why they were bonded.

We rushed into the clinic only to find an exhausted Vasilisa leaving and she came to a halt when she saw me carrying Rose's unconscious body.

They rushed her to a private room due to her condition and told us to wait out in the waiting room. Meanwhile, Lissa called Christian, Eddie and Adrian explaining what had happen.

Just when the rest of Rose's friend showed up, Dr. Olendzki stepped out of the room. We all rushed towards her in a heartbeat, "She...Rose, she didn't make it." She informed us with a hoarse tone.

After that the world disappeared, I lost track of time as I was being pushed past by her friends and mother. I followed them like a robot.

"Rose!" Lissa kept yelling at her as to attempt to wake her up, hugging her close to herself.

I was numb, I couldn't feel a thing, I couldn't move. I lost her; I lost the one person that matter to me the most. I finally found her and I lost her.

"Rose!" Lissa was hysterical now, "I can't lose you again! You are all I have! My only family!" It was hard enough on all of us, but to Lissa, this was the second time she witness Rose die. She was losing it, darkness taking over her.

Jeanine, Christian and Eddie all stood frozen like me around the room. We couldn't believe it, it was all so surreal. She looked like she was sleeping but we all knew she was gone. She died saving me and I hate it. I could see the guilt in Eddie's face. He knew now that Rose was responsible of us going after him and the rest. He knew she couldn't stand the thought of him being taken by Strigoi again and now she was dead.

Lissa still clung to Rose's body refusing to let her go, still trying to touch her magic to bring her back and then Adrian rushed in the room.

Adrian's face was flooded with emotions – pain, sadness, grieve and then determination. He placed his hand over her heart; I took a step forward, not liking him touching her body at all.

"Adrian!" Lissa gasped with horror yet hope and then Rose gasped out for air and Adrian passed out.
