12:04 AM ; FINNICK

finnick waited at the train station by himself. he wondered if nina had any business to do as well, but he knew their schedules didn't line up all the time. as much as he wanted to see the girl, he didn't want her on these type of trips to the capital. then again, who would?

ever since they had lunch together, the two have been talking a bit more. finnick would consider them friends, but he knew nina wouldn't because she didn't want anything to happen to him.

the golden haired boy leaned back on the bench, sighing. the train would be there at 12:10 and it was 12:05. he was becoming tired of all the waiting.

but because finnick didn't want anyone hurt, he continued to go on these business trips and wait and wait and wait.

"you look exhausted."

finnick opened his eyes and saw nina standing in front of him, leaning against a pole with her ankles crossed and her hands in her pocket.

"i am," he confirmed, smiling slightly at her bluntness. "what're you doing here? i didn't expect you to have any...business today because it was so late."

nina nodded her head to the bench, silently asking to sit beside finnick. the boy nodded and nina sat down, leaning her head on finnick's shoulder.

"i always have business. i only get two days out of the week off. i'm debating on becoming a mentor because then i wouldn't have to do all those trips every week. unless of course i was trying to get the tributes sponsors and stuff. i don't want to hoe around for things though, you know?"

finnick nodded, biting his lip as he remembered how he had slept with a few capital citizens to get nina and other tributes out alive.

"you're not a hoe." finnick reassured.

nina sat up and looked at him. "thanks. you aren't either. i know what you did for me during my games, and i know how disgusting it feels to sell your body like that...obviously." the girl laughed, "but seriously, thank you. for everything, even though we don't really talk much."

finnick just nodded, smiling tightly. nina still didn't consider him a friend, and so he knew they would be nothing more than acquaintances.

but acquaintances don't sleep with strangers to ensure the safety of each other.
