Run
..............
It was a stormy cold night, not a single person was outside. One man in particular was sitting on his bed staring outside of the window with a thoughtful expression. His name? Logan. A person who decided he had enough a long time ago.
He sighed quietly. The streets were empty, like his heart, and that was a feeling he was used to. In all honestly, this was the last feeling he had ever expected when he was a wee little boy but, years had pass, his eyes saw what the world really was like and now, emptiness was the only thing he felt.
He knew the exact reason why he was like this, but other times it had been stupid of him to let himself become who he was now because of that single reason.
He did have a good life without a doubt, all the girls, the money, the parties, and not to forget the booze, but, as he glanced back at the girl who was wrapped in the silk sheets he knew this wasn’t what he wanted. He didn’t even know her name but he fucked her anyway. Yes, he liked it, but no, it didn’t take away the pain.
Years ago, when he was barely nine years old, things had fallen apart in front of his eyes, and nothing had made sense.
Why his mother had suddenly gone up and left, and why his father was breaking everything in their house. He didn’t know what was going on, and that thought alone scared him. He tried to find hope, he tried to find a way, but it was a dead end. Things only got worse after time. When he turned fourteen he had enough. There was nothing left for him, the house he once called home had fell apart a long time ago, and without a family it never did feel safe. So he ran. Ran away from everything he knew, ran from his fears, ran from the broken family and ran from the pain.
But the truth is, no matter how many times he ran, no matter how many times he tried to get away, the past cannot be forgotten. When you run, you never do actually leave anything behind, it just comes along with you like an unwanted luggage and you’re stuck with it for life.
No matter how many times you run, the past can never leave you.
