Redpaw's POV

I could have left with the other cats. It would have been an amazing adventure! But I could never leave my brother behind. Hollowpaw is my friend, and brother. I love him, I'll kill for him.

"So rookie." Firepaw padded up to me. Not this nonsense again. Seriously, he's only been apprentice since I was born. He can't just make fun of me?!

"What?" I asked impatiently.

"Well, rook, can you hunt? I can teach you, because my skills are sharper..." Firepaw rambled on about how great he is at literally everything. I don't see why Cinderpaw admires, no- loves that stupid furball.
I could certainly live without him breathing on my back all the time. Well, I don't want him to die, it would be cruel.
Plus, he has a rivalry with Moss Fur. I hope Moss Fur wins. A kit winning over a skilled apprentice, that is hilarious.
Anyway, Chippaw is actually good. He's always humble and takes charge without anyone asking. That can get a bit annoying, but its okay. I pretty he'll be warrior before Firepaw, even though he's older than him.
After those six moons, and Rainspot's kits are old enough to be apprentices, I'll be Firepaw's age to them. Its been about a quarter-moon now. The kits are already exploring outside the nursery cave.
"Hey! Don't step on my tail!" Rainkit squeaked. She was the runt of the litter, a small gray and white she-kit. Her three brothers, Shadekit, Leafkit, and Crowkit were always kind to her. Her other sister, Hailkit, stuck to Rainkit like tree sap.
"Sorry, Rainkit!" Leafkit mewed.
Rainkit wasn't growing as much as her siblings.

I heard Blossompetal and Nutmeg talk about it with each other.
"I don't know if Rainkit will survive. I'd be failing Rainspot." Blossompetal meowed.
"Nonsense! The kit will grow up, just small. When she has a first taste of prey, I think she'll be alright. For now, give her extra milk, it will give her strength." Nutmeg replied, wrapping her tail around her three sleeping kits.
Blossompetal nodded. "Thank you."

I wondered where Sorrelwing was. She was taking care of Silver Wing and Amberkit. The she-kit had already recovered from the fever. Where was she now?

"Redpaw, are you okay?" It was Hollowpaw.
"Fine. I um, just thinking about Deerkit." I replied. Deerkit was our sister, she died of greencough when we were a moon old. She told us to promise her that we'd become warriors.

Hollowpaw sat beside me. "We promised her we'd become warriors. But I want to be a medicine cat. Will she be ashamed of me?"
I shook my head. "Never, she wants us to be happy. She's jealous of us, Hollowpaw. She'd give anything to come back. Like we'd do anything to get her back."

Hollowpaw closed his eyes. His white fur didn't move a hair. "I'll go back to help Firpaw. See ya." He stood up, and padded away, resting his tail on my shoulder for a few seconds before leaving.
Sighing, I got to my paws. I saw Chippaw padding over. "We're going hunting. Would you like to come with us?" He asked.
"Yeah. I'll go." I said.

"Great! Firepaw, Cinderpaw and Goldenfall are coming with us." Chippaw meowed, a little too cheerfully. Yeah, its okay now, but there are flesh eating beasts out there. Who knows what will happen? Probably StarClan, because they just sit and watch what happens to us. Like Twigfur, just mauled on.
After we set out, I caught sight of a hawk. I pointed my ears toward it.
Goldenfall stretched out his broken leg. He was ready to attack it, but knew with his broken leg, it wouldn't get far.
Cinderpaw ran towards the hawk, and jumped at it. Firepaw followed her, then they both attacked it.

"Stop! You'll get yourselves killed!" Chippaw called after them. The apprentices didn't listen.
Sighing, Chippaw pelted after them. The hawk clawed at Firepaw. The hawk knew that the apprentice would put up a fight, and it knew Cinderpaw wouldn't do much to it.
It pecked Firepaw with its beak, piercing Firepaw's skin. The tom yowled in pain, limping away.
