We are on campus and I feel numb.
"Oh! This is it honey, I'm sorry I have to cut it short but Jamie has a dentist appointment in an hour!" my mom says, while taking my luggage of my car.
"How are you getting home?" I ask, secretly hoping there is no need for her to take my presious car with her. Right now, my car is the only friend I have!
"Don't worry! I have an Uber coming, it will only take a couple of minutes. Meanwhile, you go and meet your roomate and I will leave the rest of your stuff in here to get later." she says, gesturing towards my car.
"Alright, I love you! I'll see you this weekend!" I go over and big my mom. I breath hitches at my throat as I have to say goodbye. Soon enough the Uber comes and whizzes my mother away.
"See you soon mom." I think to myself as a single tear rolls down my face. I quickly wipe it away, making sure not to mess up my makeup. I check myself in the reflection of the car window. As soon as I'm about to walk away I get whammed into my car door, knocking the wind out of me."I'm so sorry." says a tall girl with platinum blonde hair. I give her a puzzled look and she laughs. "I was running and I didn't see where I was going. Yea I also have a ton of stuff in my bags." she shrugs her shoulders, showing me her, clearly packed to the rim, suitcases.
"No problem, I'm Amanda." I say, extending my arm so we may shake hands. She accepts my gesture and leads me to the register table.
"I'm Katherine, but just call me Katie!" she says cheerfully. I smile at her and walk to the front of the line.
"What's your name?" says the lady at the table.
"Amanda Hoffner." I state proudly and give her a grin back. The lady looks around behind her in what seems like a book, while I wait patiently for my dorm key and scheduele.
"Here ya go! Room 299." she says. Shortly after me, Katie gets her key and turns out she is right across the hall!
"Hey neighbor, do you know your roommate? I do, her name is Stacy Calister. I wonder what she is like!" she says quickly, the anticipation must be eating at her.
"The anticipation is eating me too!" I think to myself
