"Duah, oh it's so good to see you!" Kalig's mother exclaimed.
Today was Kalig's 17th nameday and his father was coming home after his meeting.
Duah, Kalig's father, was a royal huntsman in the kingdom of Baltaz. He had just came home from signing a peace treaty with the house of Paoken. He wouldn't call it a house really because the kingdom is smaller than the Paoken. The Paoken was thought to be backstabbing power hungry people in the eyes of the Baltazians. Stories were passed down that implied that the dictator had conquered large masses of land due to subterfuge in the Paoken agents.
Since Kalig was going to be a young hunter and an independent man, his family decided to assign Duah as the mentor of Kalig.
"It's good to see my boy helping his mother!" said Duah as he scruffled Kalig's hair.
"Dad, I hunted down a badger today!" said Kalig with a smirk on his face. He held up his game's skin proudly, as if it was made of gold.
To him, his father's appreciation was priceless. Duah looked surprised and asked, "Did you remember?"
"Yes father, I remember the ritual."
Hunting in the Baltaz region was a sacred work and the hunters revered the game as rewards from the gods, thanking whenever they hunted to let the spirit ascend. Duah taught Kalig this as he was just a young boy.
Then a smile surfaced on Duah's face, he was proud to have a son and family with his wife, Nuren.
Duah then said, "It's time to celebrate your 17th name day son! And your first lesson as a hunter."
