Chapter 5:

I stood in front of the door for a while, catching my breath.

I put my hands over my head to circulate the oxygen in my blood.

Bad idea.

I gagged from the strong fumes radiating off of my pits.

I slowly, steadily reached for the doorknob, but stopping half way.

What am I doing?

There's probably a vampire in there!

Or a monster!

Oh Dear lord, Stop being a baby, it's not like your in a horror movie. My subconscious said.

Maybe I am! Or maybe Aston Couture is about to jump out of the darkness with Scaven yelling "YOU'VE BEEN PUNKED!"

I'm telling you, this is real life! What, you think that now there's vampires in the mix your tough exterior is gone? What would Sophia say now think if she saw her big older tougher sister acting like she's a wussy? She'd say to toughen up!

Wow, my subconscious is harsh.

Then I thought about Sophia, my heart sinking.

My little, defenseless sister, who was adopted by really nice people from Arizona... I haven't talked to her in a while...

"She'd say to toughen up..." I said out loud, repeating my subconscious.

I took a deep breath, and reached towards the knob.

I slowly opened it, being met with another hallway.

"Ugh!" I groaned loudly, pulling my hair out.

Wait... There's light at the end of the hallway...

A way out- Yes!

I sprinted down the hallway, reaching the top of a staircase.

It took my breath away, there was a large chanderlear that was engraved with gold and diamonds from the look of it. There was a large staircase that split and rounded the room, stopping at the floor at least 20 feet below. The rooms colors were gold, white, and silvers. The flooring was a rich white that was purer than snow. The walls were a soft golden color, but the flooring at the bottom were a white tile. The banister was a silverish color that tied the room together. There was a couple chairs and sofas, but other than the large grandfather clock the room was pretty spacious. I couldn't help but notice the thick layer of dust that seemed to be everywhere; The floors, chairs, banister, even the walls that seemed to have webs everywhere. I saw light footprints that were there but other than that, I didn't see anything else indicating there being human life ever in there.

No lights- only the light from the sun that the lit the room, giving it a warm feeling. And then I was brought into another dimension.

It wasn't another dimension, but more of another time.

Everything looked so lively in this room- people were everywhere, drinking and having a grand time.

But I couldn't shake their clothing. Big pouffy dresses for the ladies that showed off too much cleavage than necessary. The men wore nice tuxes that seemed mesmerizing from the shininess they gave off.

And their fangs. Every time someone would throw back their head and laugh- I saw it. Those teeth that were sharp and dangerous. And extremely scary.

I looked down at myself; I was wearing a big, pouffy black dress that had red roses going up from the right corner of the dress to my chest area. It was ruffled in the front, giving it a nice fancy feeling. The chest part wasn't as bad as some, but I still couldn't breath. The sleeves were long and flowy, with triangled tips that raped around my middle fingers. The dress had the criss-crossing ribbons in the front along with the roses, making it look dignified and sexy at the same time.
