KEILA~

"C'mon Kei, we have to go! This could be our last high school party ever!" my best friend, Desi begged me.

I've never been one to be a huge partier. Ironic because my boyfriend, Sloan Sims, is known for his "amazing" parties. I've only ever been to one, he usually doesn't want me there. Which is fine, because like I said, not a huge fan of parties.

Today is Saturday, May 24. We graduate high school on Thursday, May 29. High school has always been pretty easy for me. I guess I'm considered "popular", but only because of Sloan, and my brother, Kai, who kind of has a legacy at my school (he was the star football player before he graduated last year AND he's the nicest person ever). But, if you don't know me, I probably seem like a shy, guarded person, which I am, in some cases. I guess you just have to break down my shell to get to know the real me. Only a few people know the real me. My brother, Kai, my best friend, Desi, and my mom are the only people that really get me.

"Keila? Are you ready?" Sloan yelled from downstairs, interrupting my thoughts.

"Yeah, I guess," I timidly responded. I always get nervous before going to parties. I don't really know why, I think I just feel out of place, but like Desi said, "this could be our last high school party ever". I guess I can deal with it for one night.

I followed Desi out the door just as Sloan came out with two big bottles of vodka in his hand.

"Oh my god, where did you get that?" Desi excitedly asked.

"Stole it from my stepdad," Sloan smirked. "Let's go." He continued, getting into his brand new Audi, which was an early graduation gift.

We were all pretty wealthy. We lived in Malibu, California, so really everyone down here was. Yes, I'm probably considered spoiled, but I'm humble about it, unlike most kids down here.

Fifteen minutes later, we pulled up outside of one of Sloan's friends house. Without even going inside, the sound of loud music and the smell of smoke and weed drifted all throughout the neighborhood.  I already knew it was going to be a long night. I slowly got out of the car and looked up to see my friends waiting for me. Desi walked up and grabbed my hand.

"If you feel that uncomfortable, we can just go," she smiled and quietly spoke to me.

I shook my head. "No, I'm fine. Let's go."

We walked in, still hand in hand, while Sloan had already gone in without us. Going through the door, I noticed familiar faces that I had gone to school with since I was 10.

"I'm going to go get us some drinks," Desi said as she ran off. I didn't really want to be alone, so I decided to go talk to some of my classmates. I saw Victoria and felt a little bit more comfortable.

"Hey Vic," I smiled walking up to Victoria McGill, who was not only one of my good friends, but also my brother Kai's girlfriend.

"Hey! I didn't expect to see you here!" She smiled and hugged me.

"Yeah, well we're about to all go our separate ways after graduation, so I figured it wouldn't kill me to get out and socialize with everyone," I laughed.

"That's great!" She laughed. "I don't mean to kill the mood, but how's your mom doing? Kai always avoids talking to me about her and I just worry sometimes," she spoke softly.

I cleared my throat and looked down. "She's okay," I mumbled.

My mom. One of the main reasons I don't go out much. Because I was always with her. I couldn't just leave her by herself. What if something happened while I was gone? I would never forgive myself.
