Mica could not sleep because she had this feeling that someone was watching her, she usually opens her bedroom window at night, she likes to see the stars which always looked like they were winking at her but she just had this strange feeling that someone or something was watching her.

She stands up and walks over to her window and she sees the house next door, the lights were offed and she wonders if the new neighbor might be asleep. She shakes that thought outbox her mind and resumed to closing her window with her curtains.

She goes back to bed but finds it difficult to go to sleep. She was restless.

She yawns as she sits up from bed and she had no idea when she fell asleep.

She thinks about the feeling she'd last night as she gets up from bed heading to the bathroom to brush her teeth and debates on whether to tell her parents or not. She decided to go for the latter.

She walks the hallway to the kitchen "Morning mum." Mica said. Her mum is in the kitchen preparing bakefast.

"Morning Mica." Her mother said. Mica could hear her smile even though she didn't turn to face her.

Mica scanned the living room that also had a kitchen for her dad, maybe he's in the garden or upstairs still in bed. She chose the latter because her dad had always been an early riser.

"Mom I'm going to the backyard." she said giving her mom a wet kiss on the cheek, she felt her mom smile and this made Mica smile too.
Mica opened the door that leads to the backyard. It creaked slowly before it finally reached its apex and stopped, welcoming her to a large yard field with freshly mowed grass.

She sees her dad standing at a tree "Morning dad." Mica shouted with a smile from where she stood.

Her dad turned away from what he was looking at and faced her with a smile settling on his face, the crinkles near his eyes visible. He had dirt on his pinafore, the jeans had seen better days.

Mica walked up to meet her dad, she saw that he'd already tilled the soil. And a large on at that. She saw seeds in its wrapping with a white paper glued on it and a black ink that said 'TOMATO SEEDS'.

Her dad had done a good in planting them. He's a civil servant but loves planting, he'd told her how his dad was a farmer and he mad lots of money from selling the harvest.

Though Mica never got to meet him, she'd seen a picture of him in his black shirt tucked into his faded jeans a smile on his sagged face with her parents on their wedding dad her mom looked beautiful in her white laced gown with a puff on her shoulder, Mica had laughed at the puffed shoulders saying she could never wear that on her wedding day though her mum would have loved it if she wore it. Her dad wore a suit, she could tell his hair was gelled back and his blue eyes shown with joy, his smile said alot, he was with the woman he loved. She thought it was really cute.

"Dad I'm going to take my bath," Mica said as she looked at her dad's sweaty face, "Try not stressing yourself much." she said moving closer to hug her dad.

"This is my favorite hobby, you know that Mica." Her dad said making Mica to pull out of the hug with a smile on her face.

"What sort of hobby is that?" she said "it's boring." she rolled her eyes playfully.

"You mean to tell me that growing things are boring?" Mica dad said raising an eyebrow at her.

Mica playfully pouted her lips at her dad, "I don't know, but aren't you stressed out." she asked changing the subject "Dad, you need to have a bath or something." She looked back at the door she came through staring back at her "Dad I'm going to Ana's place today. "

"You've made a friend eh?" he smiled at his only child.

"She's the only good friend I have and also my best friend." Mica said with a smug look on her face, "the rest are bunch of losers"
"Dad I'm going to take my bath, I feel all itchy and sweaty" she touched her forehead, gave her dad a smile and walked off the wind blowing her hair, plastering large strands on her face making her grunt in frustration. Her dad smiled.

*~*~*

"I saw him," Ana said, her eyes bulging.

"Who?" Mica asked.

"Him." She said emphasisingly.

"Him who?" Mica said already getting frustrated.

"The new guy, C'mon." She said in a duh kind of way

"Where?" Mica asked, her eyes bulging too.

"I saw him this morning while taking out the trash, he passed with his car, I think he was with someone," Ana said as she strained her eyes trying to pinpoint the gender "I think a lady, I'm not sure" Ana said.

"You sure you saw what you –"

"I'm not done with the full story Mica" Ana said cutting Mica and she rolled her eyes at her. Mica rolled her eyes too at her.

"Then he looked at me" Ana said freaking out.

"So?" mica asked not getting why Ana's so up about him looking at her.

"No you don't get it," Ana said standing up above her "the way he looked at me," she touched her chest "was weird, like, like," she couldn't find a word to describe it "weird" she finally said "Mica there's something not right about him."

Mica stifled a laugh "You barley know him," She looked at Ana amused "You've haven't even talked with him to know what he sounds like."

"Mica, you don't understand," She searched her friends eyes, her eyes glinting in the "My feelings are never wrong" she shifted her gaze to her palm "They've never been wrong."

Mica held Ana's palm "Look never judge a book by its cover, OK?" she breathed in "I think it is all in your head, sometimes my feelings too lie," her eyes glinted "Like Dean now, I thought he'd a bitch like I thought but he's a nice guy,"

"Mica," Mica felt Ana hold her hands tight "I once had this feeling when my dad was about to go on a conference trip in a neighbouring town that he won't come back and he never did. I never saw him again. No one had seen him since."

Mica was shocked from what she'd just heard, "I never knew, I'm sorry about that."

"You see why I don't want any of us near him." Ana said

Mica tried to nod but she couldn't. She'd always lived by this saying never judge a book by its cover but she'd realized she'd been stupid, she almost got raped by a man she saw a a second father to get or an uncle. She guessed Ana's right.
