Trouble From The Very Beginning
Phoenix had always known she was defective, yeah her twin sister Nevada would use every chance she got to tell Phoenix she was the defect of the family.
It started with her parents, talking between themselves while they were at the table or in the car. It hurt Phoenix to hear because she didn't understand at first.
Where as other families bonded, Phoenix was growing further apart from her family. When her mother got pregnant again with twins, the stress level was over the moon.
Each and every day at meals, her mother looked at her differently than she did to Nevada. Her father didn't know what was going on, but he clearly felt the same as he made comments back to her mother.
When the girls, Phoenix and Nevada were 10, her mother gave birth to twin boys. They were perfect of course, the worry was over for the others, but not for Phoenix.
She knew that now there would be more for them to complain about in front of her face. The boys were duplicates of Nevada and looked nothing like Phoenix.
So with the three kids looking alike, Phoenix was gazed upon like she was a freak when going out. It was more noticeable as the boys grew and Phoenix spent more and more time all alone.
Over time, Phoenix stayed home the major majority of the time, to the delight she could see on their parents faces' and especially Nevada when asked if she was coming.

Then they moved, her parents finally decided to do something about it. So they rubbed it into Phoenix, that they couldn't stand all the stares they were getting whenever Phoenix came out with them.
It of course was never thought, what an admission that would put on Phoenix's shoulders. In the new location they'd moved to, her parents drove around the area looking for schools for them.
Nevada chose one because of all the hot guys outside, she in Phoenix's mind was going to be a slut the way she talked and acted. When they passed another, it was decided, by her parents, that Phoenix would go there after another rude comment was made by Nevada.
So for the first time ever, Phoenix was sent to a different school and separated from going to school with Nevada. But of course, to rub the hurt in more, Phoenix would be walking to school, while Nevada and the boys who were in kindergarten, would be driven.
To top the list was, they changed Phoenix's surname, legally and all to her grandmother's from her father's side, seeing as her mother didn't want Phoenix's name to be related to the maternal side of her family.
So when she was enrolled into her new school, she was enrolled as Phoenix O'Dell as Nevada went by their birth surname of Macie.
Then there was the pack, with finesse, her parents, who were thinking only of themselves and their normal kids, were accepted into the pack, while Phoenix was kept away from the pack and not introduced nor initiated. Probably not wanting anyone to know she was even a member of their family.

When Phoenix shifted for the first time at 16, she took it upon herself to leave the area to do so. She took a city bus to the end of town, nowhere near the pack lands and shifted on her own. While Nevada, was taken to the pack house where she was amongst the pack elders who helped her shift as she definitely needed it.
When Nevada shifted, it was into a medium sized brown and black wolf. Phoenix was told Nevada's wolf looked like a mix between both of their parents, one was brown and the other black.
