The concrete was cold against her bare skin, goose bumps running along her arm. She did not dare open her eyes, knowing that she would only see the jeering faces above her, laughing at the blood and tears covering her arms, knees, and face.

"Listen Lose-Li," one of their many childish nicknames, "clean up your act of you will regret it." Kevin and his gang walked away, toward the front of the school building.

Líli opened her eyes. The day was ironically bright and cheery, but she lay in the shadow of the school. She sat up stiffly. Her palms and arm were raw from being shoved to the ground. So were her knees. A drop of blood trickled down her right shin. She licked her lips and discovered a split at the left corner. She stood up and smoothed down her school uniform. She followed the same path that the boys had walked.

"Sì, mamma, cinque. Sì. Sì. Addio. Sì. Addio." Brigita hung up the phone as Líli walked up, rolling her eyes. "Where have you been?"

"I left home late."

"Oh, well, I have some great news!" What? You finally got a brain and- "Kevin asked me out!"

"What?!"

"I know, right?! He's so hot, like oh my god." How can this be happening?!

Líli looked over to see Kevin looking directly at her, grinning. He flipped his surfer blonde hair, and headed into the school as the bell rang.

"Well," Brigida interrupted Líli's chain of hate-thoughts, "I thought you'd be more happy for me, geez."

"What about not dating for a while? Too much pain?"

"Who would turn him down? It's Kevin. Wow. Jealous much? Ugh." She marched up the steps.

Líli sighed and walked slowly into hell.
