Claire's POV

After talking to Carl last night, he fell asleep so I went back to my cell. It's now the morning and I'm eating breakfast with Beth. Everyone's outside enjoying the sun.

But the only person not around is Carl. Usually he helps his dad in the field, but only Rick is farming.

I decided I wanted to do a little running so I grabbed my backpack and knives and headed out.

"Kid? Were ya' going?" Daryl asked me as I walked past him cleaning his crossbow.

"On a run" I stated looking down hoping he'd let me go, with out a tag along.

"Ok shortie be careful." Daryl says well looking up.

"Ok 'dad' I will." I joke earning a chuckle from him.

I walked carefully, trying to make the least amount of noise possible. I heard a thumping, so I walked toward it.

I saw a rock get tossed at a tree, so I hide behind the one in front of me. I peeked my head out from behind the tree, and saw Carl sitting on the ground throwing rocks at a tree.

"Won't that attract walkers?" I asked causing him to jump and look to the side at me.

"Yeah..probably.." He says looking at me. I smiled at him and he looked away. "About last night...I'm not weak, and I don't need you to be there for me.." He says looking at the ground. I walked over and sat next to him.

"I know your not weak, the strongest people feel the most pain.." I say, he looks up connecting eyes with me I continue "And you don't need me to be there for you..you want me to be there for you." Carl looks a way from me.

Then out of no were he hugged me."Your right..." He says, I smile and hug him back.

"And if you want me around..I'll be around" I say smiling like an idiot.

Carl pulled away "We should probably get back.." He says, I nod in agreement.

We stood up and started to walk back, well talking about comic books which I found out are one of his favorite things.

For once since I met Carl Grimes, he smiled and laughed...maybe I can pull this off..
