"Okay, ladies and gentlemen," Mrs. Salvador says, while clapping in her hands, and you roll your eyes because honestly, that's just such a cliché thing for a teacher to do to get attention.
"You know you had an exam a few weeks ago, and I've finally corrected them."
Now that gets your attention, as well as the rest of the class their attention. Camila, who had her head on your shoulder seconds prior, tenses as she lifts up her head to stare at the teacher. You don't know why she's anxious, because she obviously passed, and so did you.
You search around to see if Lauren looks nervous at all, but you can only see the back of her head. Usually she sits at the back, but when she came into the classroom at the start of the lesson, she promptly seated herself a few rows before you.
The teacher starts handing out the test at a snail's pace and you roll your eyes. You just want to know if you're in the safe zone for the finals' exams or not. You know that if you have more than 80% on this exam, you don't even have to study for the next exam and you'd like some breathing space, though you probably would study anyway.
"Relax," Camila murmurs in your ear, though you think she's probably saying it to relax herself rather than you. You nod shortly.
But then you start giggling because why in hell are you all so tense about this stupid exam that was simply based on Spanish vocabulary?
Camila starts giggling along with you, though you haven't shared why you're giggling, and leans back into you, her arm snaking around your elbow that is placed firmly on the desk, her hand trickling up to yours until they lock in a handhold. It's snug, the way you're not embracing each other but still are embracing each other.
Lauren Jauregui turns around swiftly, her emerald eyes fixed upon the two of you when she hears you giggling, and with a scowl, she turns back to the front, just as the teacher places her exam in front of her. You roll your eyes openly at Lauren's childish demeanor. Please.
Not five minutes after, you and Camila are handed your exams and all goes quiet. You can breathe out with relief, as you have passed with 85%. You smirk. No more studying, bitches, you think.
But you will. Duh.
"Congratulations," Camila presses a firm kiss to your cheek and it makes you grin full-on. You glance at her exam briefly to assure that you can reciprocate the congratulations.
Your eyes lock onto the back of Lauren's head again, and you wish you could ask her if she passed, because you know how much the girl cares for her grades. It's as if she can read your mind, because she turns around and gives you a look and you immediately give her a thumbs up, which she returns to you swiftly before going back to pretending you don't exist.
"Aww," Camila coos next to you. "Who would have known? Lauren is so sweet, she totally cares about you."
You raise an eyebrow at her as she gushes.
"Eh, yeah?" You mumble incoherently, already packing up and standing up. You stand waiting for her as she tosses her stuff into her bag. You hold out your hand to her and waits for her to take it.
You hand the exam back on your way out and say goodbye to the teacher, Camila following closely.
"Ally is waiting for us in the library," You remind her, as Dinah and Camila have permanently joined your little group. You don't study much anymore, but it's still your spot with Ally and some traditions you just have to keep.
"I'll catch up with you in a second." She says with a smile, already standing up on her tippy-toes to press a soft kiss to your lips. You smile automatically as you make your way to see your best friend, not even wondering about what the Cuban girl is up to.
