Chapter Two: Caught Pen Handed
Melanie Martínez as Opal
********×********×*******×****
It's 4'o clock in the morning and we're still at the party. Except the only people left are the house owners. A small brown headed bossy boots and the player I had been talking to at the bar, Sara, Amy, Matt, and of course yours truly.
Why are we still here you ask? Well, because I'm friends with a certain lesbian that feels the need to sleep with everything she finds. Yea, stupid whoremonal Sara had to volunteer us into helping her girl crush clean up her house. So, here we are, getting bossed around by a freaking mean as elf.
"Hey bossy elf, where's your recycling bin? " I shout, a smirk on my lips after I hear her scoff. I sense Sara's death glare from a mile away.
" My names Abby, and the recycling is outside by the trash. " she points, her face exhausted. Seeing her expression I give her a break from my sarcasm and make my way outside. Once that's taken care of, I pull my spliff out and light up. Taking a lung full of the relaxing nicotine and weed, I lean against the brick fencing that surrounds the front porch. It's a beautiful house, well more like mansion. It's regal with a classy water fountain up front, a big iron fence blocking out the rest of the view of the street. My thoughts are interupted by a voice.
"you smoke?"
I jump half a mile in the air, whipping my head in the players direction. Taking in another puff, I reply, "only when I got a bossy midget half way up my ass."
He busts out laughing at that. It makes a smile appear on my face, his laugh is contagious, a freeing harmony that reminds me of happier times. Or maybe I'm just high...
"Your hilarious, how come I've never talked to you before? What's your name by the way. And you shouldn't call my sister an elf since your shorter than her, whay are you, 5'2?" he says, a little out of breathe.
His eyes sparkle with mirth when he looks at me, I shrug "maybe you've never noticed me before. I don't know, maybe I never noticed you. And you really think I'm 5'2?! That's the tallest anyone's ever said I am!"
He shakes his head at that, laughing a bit at the last part, "Everyone notices me. Especially girls. I was actually going to say 5'0 but I wanted to be kind."
I scoff, he's so damn arrogant, but it adds to his charm. That bad boy aura that surrounds him, that's what makes the girls buzz around him.
"what? What's that scoff for?" he steps closer to me, my heart skips a beat.
"My names Opal, since you asked. It's just surprising how arrogant you are. I mean, how'd you get your head that far up your ass? " I ask ignoring his last comment about my frigging lack of height.
Flicking the finished bud away, and lazily stepping it out, I notice player guys shoots me a glare.
" I'm not being arrogant, just being honest. And my names Kaden. "
I hum in response, to tired to talk, plus everything feels foggy die to the little weed. Just overall tired with the conversation, I've heard too many arrogant things in my life, I mean, I'm a cocky shit I don't need anyone else getting cocky.
I get ready to leave when he asks," Opal is a unique name, where your parents get it from? " Kaden voice is filled with child like curiosity, it's adorable.
" They got it from the book Winn-Dixie. My mom loved that book. "
A pang slams into my chest, making me gasp, I haven't talked about her in a long time. Without hearing his response I leave, immediately getting ordered by bossy chick into cleaning the rooms.
