The air was moist and heavy when I ran through the narrow passageway. I needed to see him just one more time before I left. I wanted to see him smile one more time.

Their nerving screams were left behind. If they had the chance to slit my throat and toss me into the ocean, they would have all fight to who would kill me first. Tears slid down my cheeks as I saw the front door of the small two story house he owned. I ran into the house and pulled the wooden plank down to close the door. The crowd's roars and banging filled my ears as I looked through the house for him.I ran up the stairs desperately, trying to forget about the people who wanted to claim my death. It was hard to remember today was my birthday when no one bothered to even smile at me but it wasn't like I didn't expect it.

"Bastion?" My voiced echoed throughout the house.

I entered his room to see him on his balcony. It had a beautiful view of the ocean but the ocean itself looked so dark and lost at night. He had his back to me,sitting on a chair as he spoke in an emotionless voice.

"Why? Why didn't you tell me?"

My body suddenly tensed at his question. I was scared to know what was going to happen next.

"I thought you would shun me like the rest of them," I looked down in shame.

"Well you were wrong." He got up and turned to me with a frown.

"Look at me, please Sena."

I looked up with tears in my eyes. Guilt filled my heart when I looked into his blue ocean eyes. He stepped closer to me until his chest was touching mines. His lips touched mine in a soft sign of love. At that last moment I knew I loved him. Suddenly, I fell to the floor. My cheek was covered in pain and was stinging. Tears started to cloud my eyes when I looked up at my attacker. Bastion held no emotion in his face as he looked down at me. He took a knife out of his pocket and bend down on one knee to me.

"I love you," he whispered in my ear.
