(Aranea's POV)

It was a typical Sunday afternoon. Families were on their way out of church and into Dolorosa's Diner for lunch. I was busy taking orders behind the counter where a long row of stools was located when a group of leather clad teens from my high school waltzed in. I scanned over their faces and identified Cronus Ampora, Porrim Maryam, Ruffio Nitram, Damara Megido, and-
Oh no.

Meenah Peixes.

I quickly hid my face behind a menu, adrenaline pumping through my veins as they sat a few stools down from where I was standing. Of course the one person who didn't know I existed yet still managed to make my heart flutter would sit down at my station. Better yet, right next to my ex. I'd have to serve them sooner or later, so I took a deep breath and grabbed five menus before walking over and placing them neatly in front of the group. I forced a smile and grabbed my pad and pen, chirping my usual line in a 'happy' tone. "Welcome to Dolorosa's. My name's Aranea and I'll be serving you this afternoon. Can I start you off with something to drink?"
Cronus elbowed Porrim and smirked. "Look what the catfish dragged in. Good ol' Serk. Ey, Little Miss Muffet, you guys serve curds and whey here, right?"
Meenah rolled her eyes. "If anyone but you had made that fish pun, I'd have been excited."
I pursed my lips and closed my eyes, speaking in as calm a voice as I could manage. "Cronus, it wasn't my fault that Mr. Scratch's tarantula escaped in fifth grade. Mituna Captor bumped into me and I accidentally knocked over the tank. I would greatly appreciate it if you could tone it down with the spider jokes, please."
Damara smirked and said something in Japanese, causing Porrim to blush furiously. "Damara, that's enough." She huffed and, for the first time since we broke up, made eye contact with me. Her brilliant jade eyes were just as intense as I remembered them to be. "Water would be great for all of us, thanks."
Ruffio frowned. "But I wanted-" Porrim shot him a look, causing him to laugh nervously. "N-Never mind, doll. Water's fine."
I immediately spun around on my heel and walked away, grabbing five glasses and filling them with water. Then, I paused a moment. I grabbed the dirty dish rag out of the sink and squeezed it's contents into Cronus' glass. Smiling in satisfaction, I placed all of the glasses on a tray and carried them back to the group. I feigned innocence as I handed them out, making sure to smile sweetly at Cronus as I handed him his water and purred, "Enjoy."
I went out of my way to ruin his meal, too. I made sure to spit between the lettuce and the tomato of Cronus' burger before I served it to him. As I sat back and watched smugly, I could see Meenah watching me in a similar fashion, a smirk constantly toying at her lips. Of course, I couldn't ask her about it. She was with her friends. I decided to wait until after they were getting ready to leave to say something about it.
Porrim, who was in charge of the tip, made sure to be generous with it. After all, her mother owned the place. They ate here for free. She handed me the money, letting her fingers brush against mine as she pulled her hand away. She then flashed me a small grin and a wink before sashaying out of the diner, the group in toe. Well, all except one.
Meenah stayed behind, still smirking at me with that knowing look in her eyes. "So," She finally began after she was sure they were outside, smoking. "I saw what you did to Cro's food." I swallowed thickly and bit my lip. Was she going to tell him? Were they going to beat me up? My mind spun as I searched for an excuse. I was just about to respond when she cut me off. "I respect that. Standing up for yourself like that, I mean. Takes a lot of gills to do that kind of thing. I like you, Ser- Uh. Aranea." She plucked my pen from it's perch behind my ear and scribbled something down on a napkin. "Let me know if you ever get bored. I'll be sure to give you some entertainment." She said mischievously as she pushed the napkin towards me. I cautiously took it and looked at what she wrote, my heart skipping a beat.
Meenah's phone number.
I beamed and thanked her, only to have her wave her hand dismissively. "Don't worry aboat it. Just do me a favor, alright?"
I nodded immediately. "Of course. What is it?"
"Next time he comes in, spit on his food for me, too, would you?" She chuckled and shuffled into her leather jacket. She cast me one last smirk before offering a small wave and disappearing out the door. By the end of the night, I had her phone number memorized.

((Thank you to Blubble67 for suggesting this and I'm sorry I didn't do it sooner. I appreciate you all being so patient with me and I love you all! Bye!))
