Naivete

3 1 1

It began so innocently.
A party to celebrate the end of senior year.
A complicit parent happy to supply the minors.

Eager youth.

A Joyful experiment in substance.
At first the sour and overwhelming fumes soon give way to childish giddiness.
But then spastic uncontrollability creeps in rendering exquisite gazelles and bucks transmogrified into zombie-like oafs fist pumping their volatile fury.

Shortly thereafter follows gastro exhumation visited upon by maize fairies.
They lay comatose en masses like generations of vermin in a post strychnine apocalypse.

Hours pass.

Dehydration induced cluster headaches and promises of never again are forgotten by next Friday night.
And the next.
From 16 to 40 the cycle continues.
