A/N: Photo above is Charlie, Zoë, and Luke in that order.
Lucas
Is it just me or was my sister really good at getting that guy to leave her alone? How many times has she had to do that before?
I shook myself from my thoughts and focused on the new guy. He seems nice enough. We decided to talk about our home lives.
"In our house there are too many people." Zoë said. "Not including mom and dad, first it's Luke and I, then it's Sil. Well actually her name is Silvia but everyone calls her Sil. She has a crush on a girl named Helena. At a summer camp we go to, the girly girls keep shouting Silena, as in a 'ship name' but every time they do they burst into tears for some reason. Anyways, after Sil it's Ethan then it's the twins, Thallas and Nicky. Oh, and of course we can't forget Willa then Bobby and Damon (get it? Like Bob and Damasen? Tell the stars Bob says hello *tear*) the third set of twins. Finally there's little Sallara." Zo finished. Hey, when you're gods you can have tons of children. Technically my siblings and I are gods as well but we aren't allowed to have all our godly powers until we're older.
"Well I'm an only child, both my parents died in a war a few years ago so I live with my godfather, his wife, and their three kids. Please, just don't look at me with pity."
"We won't. All three of us were named after people who died. For me, I'm named Lucas for a boy named Luke who was friends with my mom since she was seven. My mom was 16 when he was killed in a war and my middle name is Beckendorf for a guy who died helping my dad." It wasn't technically a lie.
"I was named Charles for Charles Beckendorf, he was dating my mom's half sister when he died helping their dad blow up an enemy ship. My middle name is Silena for my mom's half sister who died fighting a huge creature before my mom even met her."
Zoë
"I was named Zoë after a girl, Zoë Nightshade, who was killed by her own father while fighting by my father's side. My middle name is Beauregard for Silena Beauregard. She died a hero."
He just stared at us in amazement before continuing the conversation. We talked about random things and soon became great friends. We changed into our robes when the train got closer to the school. When we left the compartment there was no sign of Torrin so we kept walking. The platform was packed with students so we grabbed hand and started forging our way through the crowd. Teddy was holding Luke's hand, Luke was holding my hand and Charlie was holding my other hand. I felt Charlie's hand ripped from mine and looked back to see Torrin trying to scare Charlie by showing off a barely defined four pack. I squeezed my twin's hand and let go, weaving my way toward the group. I finally got beside Charlie.
"Charlie, show him."
Charlie lifted his shirt to show a very defined six pack. I smiled at Torrin sarcastically.
"Enough said. Come on Charlie, let's go."
Torrin tried for one last shot.
"You know, I bet that guy is gay, you shouldn't hang out with losers like that."
I froze in my tracks.
"He didn't say that, did he?" Charlie nodded and stepped back. I whipped around to face him. He was smiling triumphantly.
He.
Was.
Smiling.
"Don't you dare ever say anything like that to me again. You are a sick, slimy, SON OF A-!!!" I took a deep breath. "My oldest little sister likes girls and that isn't a bad. I don't care about if someone is gay, lesbian, bi or other. All I care about is if you ever make fun of someone for stuff like that, I will make you wish you had jumped into Tartarus."
By the end of my little speech everyone on the platform was staring but I didn't care. I grabbed Charlie's hand and glided over to Luke and Teddy with my head held high.
"Let's go boys." They followed me silently to the half giant guy and we got into a boat and waited for the other first years to get into their own boats.
I spent most of the time either having a mental conversation with the creatures in the lake or staring at the castle. When we got there were led to a pair of large double doors. A man with messy black hair and sea-green eyes stood in front of us. He smiled sat us before turning to everyone.
"Welcome to Hogwarts. I am Professor Jackson. In a few moments you will pass through these doors and join your classmates but before you do you must be sorted into one of four houses. Gryffindor for the brave of heart, Ravenclaw for the most intelligent, Hufflepuff for the kindest souls, and Slytherin for the cunning and ambitious. Wait here."
He turned and walked into the room, leaving us to just stand there. A boy with the same brown hair and eyes as Torrin walked up to me, taking out a wand in the process. He started to talk.
"Listen here you little mudblood " Everyone except the muggleborns gasped in horror and backed up. "you will always be a nobody. I will make your life hell for what you did to my older brother. You are nothing, you got that? You will never have any friends."
I looked him in the eye and said "You poor, poor idiot."
"What did you just-"
"I just called you an idiot. Don't get mad, I wasn't insulting you."
He looked at me in confusion.
"I was stating a fact."
His face turned red with anger.
"First of all, what do you think your big brother is gonna do when he finds out that you were standing up for him. Is he gonna thank you for wounding his pride even more than it already is after being beaten by a little girl? I doubt it. Second of all, this is my twin brother, one of my best friends, and my newest friend. So take all that and add the facts that this is your first year as well so you don't know any spells" I used my index finger to push the point of the wand away from my chest. "and I was able to knock out your older brother."
He tried to punch me but with no effort at all I grabbed his fist and flipped him over my back. At that moment 'Professor Jackson' walked back in to see a boy laying on the floor groaning and clutching his stomach having just had the wind knocked out of him. He shook his head and sighed, smiling.
"Really Zoë, that's the 47th guy you've flipped onto his back this week. 64th one that you've beaten this week."
"Correction dad, 65th. I beat his older brother on the train."
"Of course you did. You are your mother's daughter after all. More my daughter but still. Hey, Luke. Hello Charlie."
"Hello Mr. Jackson."
"Hey, dad."
The other students gaped at us. I got fed up.
"Yes my father is a teacher, deal with it! Can we go in dad?"
The hero of olympus chuckled and motioned for all the kids to follow him. My dad led us into a large room. There was a long staff table at the other end. In between the staff table and the large wooden doors were four tables. We followed dad to an old three legged stool and an old hat. We were called up one by one to put the hat on. I watched as Teddy and Charlie were sorted into Gryffindor and Luke was sorted into Ravenclaw.
"Jackson, Zoë!"
I held my head up high and glided confidently up to the stool my dad put the hat on my head.
'Hmmm. You have been through much already yet your hardships are not yet over. Good luck Daughter of Quest.'
"GRYFFINDOR!!!"
I walked to sit beside Charlie and across from Teddy.
"So, how long was the hat on?"
Teddy looked at me oddly.
"It barely touched your head."
"Oh!"
"Don't worry, it was the same for me." Charlie reassured me.
I guess that's all part of being directly related to gods. Your life is messed up.
