Everyone Knows Me

I walk into school with Ava as she drove me to school.

Everyone smiles at me.

"Hey nice game Avery." One guy says.

"Uh thanks." I said.

"Hey Avery you want to go to the mall after your practice?" Ava asked.

"I hate shopping." I said.

"Please. We're opposites. Of course you're more tomboy type." Ava said.

"Fine I'll go." I said.

I found Dad and he was talking with the principal and I had to walk in.

"But she's good." Dad said.

"Guys only on the basketball team." Principal said.

"But she's really really good." Alex argued.

"How good?" Principal asked.

"My daughter hits half court shots and makes them. Our team was losing by 20 points and I let her on and we won by 1 point."

"Why should I let her on after all my years of policy with guys only?" Principal asked.

"She's a miracle worker." Dad said.

"Tell you what. At our next game I'll be there. And if she's as good as she says I'll let her on." The principal said.

"Thank you." I said.

"How long have you been here?" Dad asked.

"Long enough to know the deal." I said.

"I'll be at the next game so if you're not as good as your father says you are than I'm not letting you on this team." Principal said.

"Ok." I said.

"You better practice cause your Dad said your a miracle worker." Principal said.

I nodded.

"Come on let's go." Dad said.

"Avery your coming to practice right?" Dad asked.

"Yeah. Then I'll really go to the mall after practice." I said smiling at Ava.

"Ok." Dad said smiling.

"Thanks Dad." I said hugging him.

"Thanks Alex." I said hugging him and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"Aww glad I could help muffin." Alex said.

"No don't call my daughter that name. That leads to falling in love." Dad said.

"Dad." I said sighing.

"What? I'm just doing my job." Dad said.

"I've never fallen in love in the years you've done this. Plus Alex is a great guy. He just calls me muffin." I said.

"Fine. I'll allow him to call you muffin." Dad said.
