"Table number five, Karine."
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at her. "Yes, Ma'am."
She glared at me before walking off to what I presume is her office and when the door closed behind her, I straightened up and rolled my eyes, pushing my eyeglasses up. Our manager, Regina, really is a total bitch but because I need my job and money, I just tried to get along with her. But it's no use. She's a bitch and she's very bossy.
"Having a rough day?" Annie, one of my co-workers, said as she passed by me, holding a tray full of used plates and glasses. She's the kind of girl who's sweet and nice but once you get on her dark side, all sugar will melt because of her spiceness and sassiness. There was a time when a customer tried hitting on her and she flipped him off and scared the poor man. That's the time when I told myself that I need to be friends with her because she's damn awesome.
"Oh yeah. And it's not even yet half of the day." I said as I placed my sprayer and cleaning towel in my basket and placed it on the shelf under the cashier register.
She looked at me with sympathy but afterwards, she grinned at me. "It'll get better."
Before completely walking away, she yelled, "Table five!" and made me snap of out my senses and I rushed to table five, taking their orders.
"Will that be all?" I asked the woman as she feeds her baby with milk. The baby took the bottle and grinned at me and I couldn't help but swoon and grin back.
The woman caught my grin and she smiled at me and nodded. "I take it you like children?"
I nodded vigorously. "I don't just like them, I love them. They're just too adorable."
"If that'll be all, I'll be back with your order after twenty minutes."
"Great!" She mused and I just smiled at her before punching in her order in the cashier.
I went to the order window and clipped the order before tapping on the bell and going back to my work.
After four hours of working, the clock struck 12, my lunch break. This is one of the things that I'm grateful for in my job. Since I've been working here for quite awhile already, I'm one of the first workers of this resto, and the longer you've worked in the resto, the better the hour of your lunch break is. And I'm very lucky to have been one of the workers to have the 12 o'clock break because at this hour, the resto is packed. It's hard to move around to work and do your job and there's a bigger chance of getting shout at by the customers because they're hungry and because it's lunch.
I removed my apron and my hairnet from my hair before grabbing my jacket from the jacket rack outside our locker room and heading out. As I stepped outside, I removed my hair tie, letting my wavy chestnut hair fall down my shoulders. I let my hand run through it, removing the tangles and combing it. I cross the road and entered Brothers Burgers. I'm not in the mood to drive to McDonald's right now so I guess BB would do. Besides, their burgers are delicious, too.
After ordering, I grabbed my order number before sitting on a booth at the farthest part of the place. Once I've settled down, I fished out my phone from my pants and opened my Facebook.
The first thing that I saw in my news feed is my face--no, scratch that, my twin's face. My news feed is full of her photos, her band and her photoshoot photos. Her jet black hair is shining under the spotlight, and even if the photo's quality isn't that good, her toothy smile still stood out, her lips painted red. Her eyelashes are a bit longer than usual and I guess she has false eyelashes on, but nonetheless, she's still the same Kaline. The Kaline that I grew up with, the Kaline that was there for me when no one was around.
