5. Bad Boy

"I am going to discuss Newton's first, second, and third law..."

We are now in the middle of the class. I'm still wondering why my sister haven't shown up. I thought she is in this class. Is she absent? Could it be that she's sick? I worriedly thought.

"Newton's first law stated that as an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force..." I barely heard Ms. Perez voice as she said our lesson.

"Hey, what's the problem?" Ethan asked. I look at him and saw his eyes soften.

"The behavior of all objects can be described by saying that objects tend to "keep on doing what they're doing"; well unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. If at rest, they will continue in this same state of rest."

"W-wala." I mumbled, practicing my Tagalog. "Wala n-naman." I heard him chuckled. I raised my right eyebrow. What? Did I say something funny or weird? I wonder.

"Mr. Esquivel, Ms. Howe, mind to share something on the class?" I hastily turn my head to Ms. Perez. But when I look at her, a playful smile forms her lip. The whole class laughed. His friends even teased us. Somehow, I felt embarrassed.

"F*ck!" I was stunned. My eyes widen at Ethan. He just cussed in front of our teacher! Can you believe that?!

"Mr. Ethan Esquivel, language!" Ms. Perez horridly shouted. "I don't tolerate cussing inside my class!" Well I am not a teacher but I don't tolerate cussing, too. I commented in my mind.

"I-I'm sorry, Miss." I shyly apologized in behalf of this cussing machine. I heard Ethan made a sound like, "tsk". I scowled at him. Bad boy!

"It's okay Ms. Howe. But could you just please focus on the class? You may continue your chit chat or your romantic staring contest later." The whole class laughed again. It made me blushed but I still managed to nod. "Mr. Esquivel?" She raised her eyebrow.

"Whatever." He mumbled and started playing with my hand, again. I made face at him, saying that I dislike what he's doing. He ignores me and continue what he's doing. He surely know how to infuriate anyone.

"As I said, objects tend to "keep on doing what they're doing." In fact, it is the natural tendency of objects to resist changes in their state of motion. This tendency to resist changes in their state of motion is described as inertia." Ms. Perez continues her lecture. As I listened to her, maybe the reason why Ethan keeps holding my hand is because I'm not really doing anything. Just like the Law of Inertia. Until I did something, nothing will happen. Maybe... Just maybe, I really like what he is doing. That's why I'm not doing anything.

After a few minutes of her Physics lecture, the bell rang signifying that the first subject has ended. I look at my pink wrist watch and saw that it's already eight in the morning. One hour has passed already. I look at my schedule list and it said that the second subject will be World Literature. Cool. It's my favorite subject.

"Unang subject pa lang, pagod na ako!" I heard Liam exclaimed. Since I am not doing anything, I took my ipad on my back pack and opened the dictionary application. I decided to look for the words he just said. I quickly search for those and discovered that what he said was, "It was just the first subject and he felt tired already". Huh? That's it? He felt tired already? My forehead creases as I glanced at him. Such a lazy person he is, huh.

"Tamad ng p*ta!" I heard Blake said. I know the word, "tamad". It means lazy as I remembered. But what is the other word again? I search for it in the dictionary. I found none. I got curious. Is it a deep Tagalog word?

"What is...?" I trail as I gain their all their attention. "What is p*ta?" I saw their jaw dropped and an eerie silence envelopes the room. "Blake?" I ask in confusion. As his eyes widen at my question. What now? I am only asking.

"You just could shut up, Blake!" Ethan stands up and glares at him.

"Man, sorry!" He raised both of his hands in surrender. Liam and Eric laughed furiously.

"Kung anu ano kasi lumalabas sa bunganga ng gag*!" Eric said while laughing. Lumalabas means getting out? Bunganga is mouth. What is the last word? Ethan glares at him also. I didn't mind him.

"What is gag*?" I curiously ask again. I think, I still need to learn more words to get used in this place. It earn a loud laughs from Ethan's friend. I felt confused. Why are they laughing? I felt more embarrassed.

"Ethan..." I whispered. He looks at me softly. I wonder if he's always like that. "They were laughing." I frowned. "Why is that? Did I say something funny?"

"Shut up!" He angrily said to his three friends. "Don't mind them." He reassures me and squeezes my hand.

"But what is that two words meant?" I ask him instead.

"It's..." He sighs. "Just forget about those words."

"Why?" He leans closer to me and whispers. "Those are bad words, baby."

"Oh." Maybe that's the reason why they're laughing. I grimaced. So, I shouldn't said those words. "Those are cusses?" He nods. I glared at Eric and Blake for saying those offensive words. Him and his friends are so much alike. No wonder they flocked together.

"Sorry, Winter." Eric made a lost puppy look.

"You just cussed!" I glared at him. "And I repeated it." I sulked in my sit. I felt him touch my left arm. I reqlly hate hearing and saying those kind of words.

"Don't touch her!" Ethan furiously warns him.

"Possessive." Eric mumbles but I didn't hear.

"What is that again?"

"Nothing." I narrowed my eyes on him.

"You didn't cuss again, are you?" His eyes widen.

"No, no." I nod. "I will never cuss on you. Baka mapatay ako ng hari." I missed to hear the last sentence he said. "I'm really sorry. I didn't know you'll repeat those words. I'll be careful the next time."

"You promise?" I look at him.

"Yep!"

"Okay."

"I'm sorry too, Winter." Blake apologized. I nod at him too. I know they didn't mean it. Could be the way they talked. Boys as usual.

"It's alright. At least I learned something." I smile. "Could you tell me also the other cussing or bad words you know?" They were a little surprised at my request. "So, I will know if someone tries to cuss at me in Tagalog words." I murmur.

"No one will dare." Ethan clenches his jaw. It defined his perfect face already. He's so handsome. My heart starts beating fast.

"Please." I showed them my puppy eyes look. "Just in case..." I whisper.

"Trust me, baby. No one will dare." He called me in an endearment. Is it normal if I felt something in my stomach when he called me, baby?

After a few minutes, the next teacher arrived. He apologized for coming late. He said, there's a short meeting in the faculty a while ago. He hastily starts his lecture about Odyssey. But my mind seems to be occupied about something. Or can I say, someone?

"For our lesson today, we are going to talk about The Odyssey. It is Homer's second epic and sequel to The Iliad..." We went on and on about the lesson.

For the nth time today, I felt my heart skipped a beat. I can't understand my heart. It's either beating so fast or skip. I wonder if... I wonder if I have a heart problem. Should I consult a doctor, then?
