(1996)

"Its--its a g-g-girl,"

They stared at the small, pink bundle of cloth on their porch. It was something unexpected especially when it was a town of gentlemen. Only gentlemen.

The two men were wearing suits, making them look a lot like penguins. A man had a beard that was long and reached his bowtie. He was wearing a dress hat as well as the other man. The other man had a mustache and a spectacle. They both had gray hair that was not obvious but the color of their facial hair said so. They were both old, elderly to be exact.

It was almost midnight and their companions have already left to rest.

The baby whimpered then opened its eyes, she smiled and giggled.

"Shall we kill it or shall we take it to Charles?" The man said as he picked up the infant. She pulled on his beard which caused the man to wince in pain.

"Are you out of your head, Darwin!? That is a human not an insect, and a girl to be precise," The other man said.

Darwin sighed, "Then we shall take him to Charles," the two men started heading to Charles' office. Their shoes making a thumping sound with every step they take. After a few twist and turns, they arrived in front of their destination.

"Are you ready, Louis?"

"I am, are you?"

"Of course, I am! Do not mock me sire,"

"I apologize,"

"Is she ready?"

"I suppose so," Louis said as he poked the baby's cheek which caused her to grasp his finger.

"Such a lovely girl, don't you think?"

"Yes, she is quite a handful yet she is adorable, more adorable than a puppy,"

"Buh-buh" she said as she looked at the two suited men.

They stopped talking and an awkward silence followed, "We were procrastinating, weren't we?" Darwin said to break the silence.

"I believe so, now are we ready?"

"For the love of--" Darwin wanted to throw his hand to the air if only he wasn't holding the girl.

"I'm sorry, now we shall enter,"

"Indeed, we shall,"

They stood their awkwardly. "Yeah, let's go,"

"We are entering,"

"Any minute now,"

The door opened suddenly, "Darwin! Louis! I was about to call-- what is that you're holding?" A man, Charles, said. He was wearing a suit like them. He had a long beard and a mustache, a spectacle was on his right eye and his dress hat was causing a shadow that covered the pink bundle. He was tall about 6"11. He looked at Darwin's package and when he realized what it was he gasped, "Oh my, we shall rejoice! Its an infant!"

"Its a female," Louis pointed out.

"It doesn't matter! We have a new member of this town, yet I can't help but wonder what or who brought her here,"

They started thinking as to where she was from, "I can't seem to think of anything, each and everyone of us were sent here by our parents because of being men who fools around with every maiden," Darwin gloomily said.

"This town is far away from civilization! The women are in the other side of the country," Louis said with a frustrated tone.

"And the only way to get in here is through the gate but only new students are allowed to enter," Darwin continued as Charles seemed deep in thought.

"I have an answer b-but it j-j-just couldn't be," Charles muttered as he took the infant from Darwin's hands.

"Don't be cruel! Spit it out then," Louis looked at him sternly.

"She's been sent to us by the moon,"

They looked at him as if he was a lunatic. The two looked through the window and saw that it was a full moon, "I think you are a lunatic, Charles. I suppose the moon is causing this," Darwin said with a frightened look.

"No, this is a prophecy coming true. She is our guardian angel sent by the moon,"

The two raised an eyebrow as Charles walked to the window.

The little girl suddenly turned serious as she raised both of her hand, attempting to hug the round goddess that was illuminating the town.

"Mama,"

She cried out as she reached up.

A ray of light made its way to her and she giggled and like a spell casted on her, she fell asleep peacefully.

"Luna, protect your people for they will keep you strong, for they will keep you safe, for they will return you to us," a comforting voice whispered.

Darwin, Louis and Charles watched the whole scene and like a magnet, they were pulled to her. They were determined to make her happy, determined to keep her safe, determined to help her fulfill her mission.

"She is the warrior of the moon, the joy of the sky, the light in the dark, she will glisten and she will be ready to defend, but she'll need someone to guide her and teach what must be taught, therefore I ask this, do you Charles Wilson, Louis McDuffin, Darwin Kleigh, swear to protect, serve and teach Luna and be her guardians?"

"We solemnly swear," they said without thinking.

A flash of light suddenly blinded the three and as soon as they got their sights once more, they noticed their hipbones didn't feel like breaking, their knees didn't hurt and their eyes were clear. Their beards and mustaches were gone except for that small stubble on their chin and above their lips. Their skin were no longer wrinkled.

The three walked to the mirror and they gasped.

It was as if they were back in the 1940s.

They were young, 25 year olds.

Darwin was a handsome fellow, his features were defined and his eyes were a wonderful shade of royal blue. His body was slightly muscular and his shoulders were broad. His hair was medium-length and it reached to his chin, and it was blonde in color.

Louis, on the other hand, was an adorable man. When he smiled, his cheeks had dimples and always, his cheeks were rosy in color. His nose was simply a cute button nose and he was slightly smaller than the rest. His hair was cut the same as Darwin's yet ginger colored. The only way he had his way with the ladies was through acting.

Charles, however, was the most stunning of the three. His body was muscular, his cheekbones and jawbones were sharp and his eyes were a mesmerizing violet. He was still tall yet taller, about 7" and it was an impressive height, in fact, in the old days he towered over everyone. His hair was only to his ears and was as dark as night itself.

Yet the thing that truly surprised them all was a crescent moon mark on their palms.

They were still in the same clothing, everything was the same. The little lady on Charles' arms was still cradled.

They slowly turned to each other and said, "Well what do we tell the others?"
