Two-Bit walked in with a fussy Ally making faces in her carrier, Ponyboy in tow.
Darry, Soda and Steve were in the kitchen. Johnny and Dally sat on the couch, watching tv. Their eyes snapped to the door as it slammed closed and a small whimper came from Ally.
"What the hell's that?" Steve asked as Two-Bit walked in and placed the carrier on the kitchen counter, immediately going to grab a beer from the fridge.
Ponyboy glared at Two-Bit and pulled the front of the carrier towards him so Ally didn't have to see him swallow the beer down in record time.
"It's a baby, Steve."
All of the boy's attention snapped to the small carrier after those words came from Pony's mouth.
"Pony, you know it's wrong t' steal someone's kid from 'em." Darry lightly scolded, making his kid brother roll his eyes.
"I know, I know. It's ours. Mine and Two-Bit's." Darry's and Soda's eyes snapped to Two-Bit.
"N-Not in that way..." Pony started.
"Better not be. Explain which way it is, then." Darry said, pulling out two chairs for them as he resumed cooking.
Pony and Two-Bit slid in them.
'S'a project." Darry looked at them, then at the baby.
"A livin' thing ain't no project, got it?"
Ally seemed to be basking in the attention she was getting, each of the boy's eyes on her. She cooed at Darry and tried to grab at him, though he was only so close, with no avail.
"She's a doll." Pony stated.
Two-Bit glared at Pony and got up, bringing the carrier over to the table where Soda and Steve sat so they could get a better look.
"She's a she."
Darry looked at the doll once more, taking in how realistic she seemed to be, then turned back to the stove.
Sodapop reached out and, with his pointer finger, poked her belly. She reached out and curled her fingers over his seemingly huge one, giggling. His heart warmed and he beamed at Pony and Two-Bit.
"So who's the momma?" He asked.
Pony blushed and said, "Me.."
This earned a burst of laughter from both Steve and Dallas.
Steve stared at the small thing with a blank expression. She glanced over at him and gurgled a little.
"What?" Pony snapped, pulling the carrier towards him.
Her attention went from Steve to Pony and Steve felt a twinge of annoyance.
Steve grabbed for the carrier and pulled it towards him.
"Damn it! Y'all fight over anythin' and everythin', but it ain't gonna be her, ya hear?" Two-Bit said, pulling the carrier out of their grips and to him and Soda.
"Jeez, Two-Bit, what's up your ass?" Dally asked, chuckling a bit at his own joke as he lit up a smoke.
"What's up my ass is gon' be your head in a minute if ya don't keep yer trap shut!" Two-Bit snapped angrily.
Dally shot up and made his way to the kitchen. Two-Bit unhooked Ally and placed her in his lap. Dally will hit kids, but babies are where he draws the line and Two-Bit knew it. He grinned at him widely as he bounced Ally in his lap.
"Did Daddy rustle Uncle Dal's jimmies? Hmmm?" He asked as he looked up at the angry Greaser.
Dally took a step forward and surprisingly, Pony got up and stepped to the hood. "Not around Ally, you hear?" Dally rolled his eyes and stood down.
