Chapter 2
The Answer
Delilah's POV
I heard the door bell on this bright Sunday morning. I walked to the front door of my apartment and saw the mailman.
"A letter for Delilah Montes?"
"Yep that's me!"
"Ok just sign here mam."
He gave me a pen and a sheet of paper. I gave it back to him once I signed and he gave me the big envelope.
"Thank you sir!"
"No problem mam."
He walks away as I close my door. I rush to my Dining Room and sit down.
"Ok. Delilah this could be the yes or no answer you've been waiting for. Just open it."
I opened the envelope and saw a long sheet of paper.
Dear Ms. Montes,
We are happy to be having you in our Fine Arts Program here in Yale. After looking through your records you have done very well and we would be delighted to have at Yale.
I stood up from my dining room table calm and then jumped around in excitement like a little girl.
I need to let Gabby know! I call my sister. Just luckily she picked up.
"Yes Delilah?"
"GABBY I MADE IT! IM MOVING TO NEW YORK!"
"Congrats! I knew you could do it! Now have you found a date yet for our wedding?"
"No..."
"Hm. Well let me know when you find one. I need to make sure he is perfect for you and won't break your heart."
"Thanks. I'll let you know...."
"Awesome! See you soon Sister!"
"Bye Gabby!"
"Bye Delilah."
She hangs up. Well at least she cares about me. Well let's head out and get a celebratory drink! One drink couldn't hurt right?
Then making my way through the hall I spotted a man who lived right across from me get out of his apartment at the same time as me.
I lock my door and head towards the elevator. I then see him walk towards the elevator too.
"Hey I'm Preston."
"It's Delilah."
"Nice to meet you. Haven't seen you around before. Are you new to the building?"
"No actually moved here after high school. So about 2 or 3 years. I haven't see you around either, are you new?"
"No I've lived here for about a year. I moved from Washington but I grew up here."
"Oh cool!"
Then the elevator got here. And we just talked and then decided to go get a drink together.
And it didn't turn out well.
