Rose
The park, which is only a mile down the road normally only takes 10 minutes to get to by walking, but since I'm applying makeup as I do so, it adds on another 13 minutes, along with the 6 minutes I wastes making sure I was ready to leave.
Suddenly as I put the finishing touches on my makeup I am being hugged.
"Why hello there Samantha!" I manage to say without thinking.
"Rosey! I fucking hate you!" Sam says angrily yet weakly, with her tone of voice shaking. I notice that her eyes are red and swollen, like she has been crying for the past hour. The fact that the tone of her voice isn't level, I almost certain she has been.
"Have you been crying? If it's because of me I am so so very sorry," I say, suddenly feeling guilty.
"Yes... Yes I have been. I just... I just.... I'm so mad at you right now! I understand why you're leaving, yet still... why now.... why just before school starts?" she manages to say, stuttering, sounding like she may start crying soon. I hug her and just before I manage to answer her, she says sounding rather angry, yet calmer than before, " You know what, fuck it, just... never mind, just, just, follow me to my car." We walk towards the car, which is on the complete other side of the park.As we're walking, I take time to reflect on what just happened. Was she crying because she doesn't want me to go? Well, she basically said that, but still, I didn't think anyone would be that upset about the fact that I'm leaving. I guess I haven't thought about the fact that anyone would be hurt by it, especially my best friend. I should say sorry to her...
Once we're at her car, after 10 minutes of complete silence, and reflecting on what happened and what I should do about it, she announces that we're almost at the car. With that relevation, I say sheepishly, "Sam, I'm really sorry about this whole mess, but I really just want to avoid being hurt anymore by my family or others at school. I hope you'll understand that and not be mad at me for my decision."
After a moment of consideration, she finally say, "Well I'm fucking mad, but you know what, let's get in the car and drive around for a bit while talking about what the fuck we're going to do with you."
