Chapter Three: Back At Her Home and the Break In
Jaxon Dale Conway
The day of the arrival home, for Indie anyway. I slept at the hospital overnight like I had the previous night. Indie had woken up once during the night and has been awake since. She had watched me sleep and when I woke, I noticed the swelling on her face had gone down, her hand was returning to its original colour and she was able to smile without having pain.
I yawn, “Morning Indie.”.
“Good afternoon,” she said with a grin on her face. I grabbed my phone out of my back pocket, looked at the time and read that its 2pm.
“Oh well, good afternoon then.” I correct myself. Her other hand, that wasn’t in mine, was placed on my right cheek. I put the most biggest grin on my face. This was the first time a girl had ever touched me in this way.
“My parents aren’t here yet,” she said to me and pulled her hand away.
“What are they doing?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Well, they are here. They went out to get food and speak to doc.” She answered back.
“Ok. Do you know when they’ll be back?” I asked her. Next minute, the door opens. “Never mind then.” Her doctor and family walk into the room.
“I have some news,” Doc said with a smile on his face. “You can go home now if you like.”
“Anything to get me out of here,” Indie said with a grin and with movement under the blankets. Her legs now stuck out and over the edge of the hospital bed.
“I’ll get out so you can get changed.” I said letting go of her hand slowly and walking out the door.
Within 3 minutes, she was changed with a little bit of help from her Mum. She wasn’t stable on her feet so I carried her all way to the car. Once she was in the car, I walked over to my motor bike, hoped on, started it up and followed Mr Thompson all the way to their home.
My stuff was in the boot of their car so it was easier for me to ride. I thought I had forgotten it then remembered that it was there.
Arriving at Indie’s house, Indie was confused as to why I was coming over but then her Mum told her. It instantly made her smile. Damn, that looked cute!
I’m a little worried that she might ask about my parents. It’s a long story and I don’t necessarily like talking about it but maybe I’ll be able to tell her and she’ll understand. But I don’t know; guess I’ll just have to wait till the time comes.
I carried Indie into the house just in case she still wasn’t stable on her feet, and placed her on the couch. Mr Thompson had brought my stuff in and placed it near the front door.
“Thanks Mrs Thompson. Umm, where will I be sleeping?” I asked in curiosity.
“Well you have a choice. You can sleep on the couch or you can sleep on a mattress next to Indie’s bed in her room.”
“I think I’ll go with the second choice.” I looked up at Indie to see a huge smile on her face. I don’t know why she has a big smile on her face but ok. I honestly would prefer to sleep on a mattress then a couch so it was an obvious answer to the question. Plus I can keep an eye on Indie just in case something was to happen while she slept. “Hey Indie, would you like something to eat?” I ask.
“Nah, I’m not hungry. Did you want to come sit next to me and watched TV?”
“Sure, if that’s what you’d like.” I answered, both of us grinning at each other.
