You wake up shivering, you can’t move. You feel frozen as you lie there on the ground. Your eyes are wide open but all you can see it black. You could have broken a bone for all you know, but your body is so cold you’re numb all over.

Who could have done this? Why would they do this to you?! You instantly think of Bernadette. No, you tell yourself. She may be a bully but would she attack and kidnap you and leave you in a scary unknown place? You’re having a debate in your head whether or not it could be true. You shake off the thought as you inhale deeply, breathing in the cold, icy air.

Somehow you manage to sit up. Your eyes are slowly adjusting to the darkness. You can see shapes but you still don’t recognize or have any idea where you are. You rely on your smell to try and get an idea of where you are but all you can smell is cold, damp and moldy air.

You suddenly remember about your torch and phone. You quickly start fidgeting around in your pockets trying to find them. Your heart sinks and you realize your pockets are empty.

You start to panic. You hear nothing but your heart beat getting faster and faster, as well as your breathing. You try and stand up to get a better feel as to where you are. You place your hand on the wall to use as a helping hand to help you stand up. You flinch at the coldness of the wall. Its wet and you recognize the feeling.

“Concrete.”  You whisper to yourself.

By now your eyes have slightly adjusted to the darkness. You can just make out that you’re standing in a hallway. You start to walk forward to explore, when you trip over a piece of wood and go hurdling towards the ground. You scream in agony. You cant see much but you can see that you’ve fallen onto a nail that has gone straight through your hand. You try to be strong but you burst out in tears. You grab the end of the nail, slowly pulling at it. The stinging sensation is unbearable. You can’t help but scream. Your scream echo’s through the building. By hearing the echo of your scream you can tell you’re in a large building. Abandoned by the sound and feel of it.

You start pulling out the rusty, cold nail from you hand. You pull it out all the way and blood starts pouring out. You rip your shirt to make a bandage for your hand.

You stay on the ground, too tired to move. Leaning back against the wall you see a light. Looking upwards, you to see a tiny hole in the roof about the size of an apple. You see 3 white dots, just hovering in the blackness. You feel stupid for wondering what they are when they’re obviously stars in the night sky.
You sit there, just staring at them, thinking to yourself how alone they are in the sky. It then dawns on you that you are alone. You didn’t really pay that much attention to it earlier, thinking that this whole thing was just a nightmare, and that you would wake up from it at any second, but from the looks of it, the nightmare is only just beginning. Your eye lids all of a sudden feel heavy. You try to keep them open but it’s almost impossible.

You wake up, again. Not realizing you had nodded off. You feel warmer now. You rub your eyes and jump with horror. It’s still dark due to there being no windows but you can see. You can tell its daytime now by looking up through the crack and seeing grey clouds. You stay frozen and look around you, the stained brick, cement walls tower over you. Looking left and right you find yourself sitting in a hallway,

A space where a door once stood, now an old rotten empty space, enabling you too view a fair distance before it gets too dark to see any further.

You stand up. Feeling light headed you grab ahold of the wall. You see in the distance a sign on the wall.  You shuffle your feet along the floor, over dust and rubble to get closer to see what it says. You get close enough to read the sign.

“Amily Mental Asylum” you whisper to yourself, “no, no, no no!”

you start to panic. You’ve heard of this place at school. So many urban legends and horrific stories were said about this place. Hundreds of the mentally insane were kept here. Most were murdered due to other patients or died due to being forced as guinea pigs for the doctors. But the most told story about this place was about a young girl named ‘Meredith Wichita.’

Legend has it, one night, during the middle of winter, one of the worst mental patients had escaped his cell. No one knew where he went, it was like he disappeared. One night Meredith woke up to the sound of breathing under her bed.  She laid there, frozen with fear, thinking it was just her mind playing tricks on her as always. But then she felt something kick her from under her bed. Freaked out, she screamed and ran to her door. She scrambled for the handle opening it and running out, looking back she saw a man in a straitjacket just lying there, smiling. She doesn’t waste anytime and runs out to the end of the hallway, clicking the elevator button. She hears a door slowly creak open and then that dreaded laugh. She turns around to see the man slowly walking out of her room towards her. He starts off with a walk, which turns into a jog. Next thing she knows he is running at her full speed, Closer and closer. Still laughing that dreaded laugh and smiling. Not just any smile but one that looked almost abnormal..
Meredith pushed the button to the elevator but it wasn’t opening. With nowhere to turn, she opened the elevator door with both hands, hoping to find a ladder. She took one last glance back at the man who wasn’t far away anymore but right behind her. Smiling that smile of his, he laughed and kicked her. Sending her flying down the elevator shaft. She fell 5 stories, breaking almost every bone in her body.

After that incident, the Asylum closed down in 1899. Anyone from then on who entered the building rarely got out. Those who did manage to ended up in a hospital going on about a man in a straitjacket with a killer smile and a laugh that rattled their bones and a disfigured lady in a white flowing dress, with what appeared to be blood all over her and all her bones broken haunting the building. Attempting to kill them or their friends with the help from all the other deceased patients haunting the building. The Amily Mental Asylum is no place for fun and games and no one should enter at any cost, or for any reason.

By now you feel as if you’re having a panic attack. Your hands start shaking and you find it hard to breath. You start walking, you don’t know where but you just walk. Trying to find away out of this place before night falls again.

You reach a T-intersection in the corridor. Straight ahead it fades off to blackness. looking left to find that that too fades off to blackness. Slowly turn to look right. You don’t believe what you see. An elevator shaft, the doors half open. Could it be the on Meredith Wichita  fell down? You want to keep walking but you seem to be in a trance. Your curiosity takes over you. You slowly start to walk over towards the elevator. The glass cracks beneath your feet as you walk. You feel the adrenalin race through your veins. Shaking, you grab ahold of the elevator door to make sure you don’t fall. You start to look down when you hear something.

You quickly look back, but all you see is the corridor fading into darkness. You just stand there staring, staring into nothingness. When you hear the sound again. You’re not 100% sure but you think it sounds like a girl crying.

Meredith Wichita is the only thing running through your brain. You feel light headed as you feel like you’re in the set of a horror movie, when all of a sudden you see it. Coming out of the darkness you see what appears to be a girl. She then just stops, standing there. You want to cry and run away but again you feel curiosity getting the better of you. You slowly walk forward.

“H..h..hello?” you stutter, looking for a response.

Silence fills the corridor. You stop walking forward and just stand there. You’re about 20m from the girl now. She’s still too far back in the darkness for you to see anything other than a black outline of the girl.

She starts moving forward. You flinch and take two steps back. She’s fully out of the darkness now. She appears to be wearing a hospital robe with dark red stains all over it. She starts lifting her head. Your heartbeat is now racing. Her face is now fully shown. You scream at the top of your lungs. Her face was covered in blood as she slowly walks forward towards you..
