Jourdan gathered all of her folders that held information on Microsoft. A week time had been plenty of time to do research on them. Since she had a friend who worked with Microsoft in collaboration with Winate, she was able to set up an appointment. She felt ready and prepared. No mistakes could be made in the first place. Jourdan rose from her seat and ventured out of the office to find her boss. Knowing Mr. Washington, he could be anywhere in the building tying up loose ends his employers failed to tie up in a perfect knot for this case on Microsoft.
Jourdan found her boss talking to her assistant Justin with urgency in his voice, posture, and hand movements.
"... and when you see Ms. Dunn, let her know that I need the information on my desk by 11 am today," Jourdan heard the remaining sentence of her boss.
"I'm right here Mr. Washington," she made her presence known holding out her folders, "here is everything relevant in the past three months."
Alec Washington nodded his head and took the folders from her outstretched hands and read the files briefly.
"Hmm, this shall do. I'll see you at lunch Ms. Dunn," Alec said with a nod of his head and left to go read over the documents in his office.
Justin looked at Jourdan eyes wide.
"You're dating Mr. Washinton?" his question made the surrounding office workers lift their head straining to hear the answer.
"Don't be ridiculous, that man sees nothing in me," Jourdan scoffed at the question and briskly walked back into her office.
She sat down in her office and contemplated the possibility once again. Chuckling, she shook her head at the thought. There was no way she had a lunch date with her boss. It was probably a luncheon with some important people. Though it would have been better if Alec informed her who all would be attending.
Just then her very own cupid, Gabriel , walked up to her.
"Hey chica! I heard you have a date," he said with a wink.
Jourdan looked over to her friend and sighed.
"No Gabe. That my dear friend is a false rumor," she said picking up her pen to write in her schedule 'lunch with boss'.
"Oh c'mon. We both know the truth," he said with a smirk.
Jourdan gave him a pointed look, "Seriously? Is this what we're gonna do? You're going to play the persistent cupid? Look Gabe... sometimes... not even a cliche scenario can create a romance between two people that wasn't meant to be."
Gabe squinted his eyes calculating, "Is that a challenge Jour?"
Jourdan sighed and rose from her chair.
"I am going to the third floor to find out information on a possible partnership with Jabil Circuit. Apparently there is someone in the technology department that is cousins with the CFO of Jabil Circuit. It would be great to partner with them as well. They are a reliable manufacturing company, worth billions, the third largest manufacturer in the world. Want to come with me?" Jourdan asked switching the topic.
Gabriel placed his hand on his chin as he ponder whether it would be a good idea to leave the floor seeing that Mr. Washington might yell at him for not even finishing his current task. After a three second debate, he figured that this was more important. After all, any revenue that would come into the company was the most significant thing to their paychecks. The more companies to partner with, the more raises for them.
"Sure, why not?" Gabe said with a shrug and a smile. Jourdan returned a smile to him.
Jourdan led the way to the elevator. As Gabriel press the down button and held the doors back for Jourdan to enter, he was searching the hallways for Mr. Washington to see if he was lurking anywhere. Once on the elevator, Gabriel received a text message, the phone flashed a blue color. He let out a chuckle once he read it. Jourdan raised an eyebrow at him yet didn't question him on his random outburst. She was happy his jitters seemed to fade away.
