Prologue
Maria Alcott ran across the rough and badly kept warehouse ground, holding her caliber .45 high in the air as she tried to grab the attention of the Gaius, chasing her. She shot it three times, letting out a shakey breath and backed away into the shadows of the tall stock shelves. The hairs on her neck stood up as cold, long breezes hit it. Immediately, Gaius grabbed the gun, sliding it across the floor, an evil smirk planted on his face. Maria, shivered watching his glinting, brown eyes turn fully black. She knew who he was, what he was.
She had heard of him before.
Immediately, Marias eyes wondered hastily around the room, looking for any signs that her daughter was near by, she couldn't live with herself if she let anything happen to Kendall, but by the way things were going, it was starting to look like she wouldn't have to.
For the first time in a long time Maria was losing the hope of getting out of it alive. As she watched the look in the demons eyes turn from hatred to murderous in the matter of minutes, she tried to think of anything she could do to escape, but upon coming up with nothing worthy of actually being attempted her heart fell into the depths of her stomach.
She kept her eyes level with the demons as she backed away, almost knocking into the high stock shelves as she continued her pitiful attempt at saving herself, there was nothing she could do now, and she knew this.
Gaius' eyes looked her up and down before taking a few long strides, holding out his hand to meet Maria's throat. Her legs dangled, kicking out viciously to have no effect on the Gaius demonic strength.
Kendall's hands shook, as she stepped in the moonlight shining through the window, her dark hair, messy and her blue eyes red and blood shot. She was too late. Gaius dropped the bloody knife, the tip hitting the floor first and bouncing onto its side. Maria lay on the floor, blood running from the gash in the middle of her stomach. Kendall's sight went blurry, her eyes brimming with tears. She walked to where her eyes landed, on the .45. Picking it up, her shaky hand pointed at the demon who had just killed her only parent, the one who had raised her since she was 6 years old when her dad walked out the front door and never came back. Rage boiled inside of the pit of her stomach, an uncontrollable rage she could do nothing about.
Her eyes shut tight as she pulled the trigger, sending the swaying bullet on a course to Gaius' chest. He bent over, his finger nails digging into his vessels skin where the bullet punctured it. Kendall had to make a decision there and then.
She turned running as fast as she could, shoving her gun into the pocket of her over sized leather jacket. The engine of her Impala clicked, and she stepped on the accelerator, heading in the dirrection of the run down motel her little sister was fast asleep in.
