I'm packing because we are moving away to Herdon, Virginia. I live in Seattle, Washington right now so it's quite a move. I will miss all my friends here but hopefully it won't be hard to make new friends.
"Alayna, honey, it's time to pack all of your things into the moving van!" My mom shouts from downstairs.
"Okay..." I walk downstairs where my mom is. "Can I have a second to say good bye?"
"Of course sweetie, just don't take to long we have to be at the airport soon."
"Okay. I will only be a few minutes." My mom walks out of the house and I'm standing in the middle of a empty house. I glance around and look at the bay window. Emily and I use to have so much fun sitting on the window. I let a tear slip down my cheek but I wipe it away quickly so there are no traces of tears. I start to walk out the door but not with one more glance of my once home that will now just be a memory. Emily is standing on the sidewalk by our house. I run to her and hug her like she is my lifeline.
"I'm gonna miss you so much Em." I say trying to choke back tears.
"I will also miss you. But promise me once you get to Virginia that you will FaceTime me." Em says hardly keeping her tears back.
"I promise and my mom said once we get settled in that she would buy you and plane ticket to Virginia so that we can see each other." I say getting happy now that I know that I will see her soon.
"Okay Alayna it's time to get to the airport." My mom says from the car.
"Bye Emily!" I give her one last hug and start walking off.
"Bye Alayna make sure you keep me updated!" Emily shouts from behind me. I get into the car with my mom. I'm not ready to leave but if it means that my mom can be happy then I'm happy too. We start to drive off but before we get to far out of view I pop my head out the window and look back at Em and it feels like all those memories that we had will disappear and I don't want them to.
