After Dan had his breakdown, he's been staying in the same sad, scared, rejected state. He's either in tears or completely numb. He still doesn't talk much, but I still have hope he'll get better.

I haven't seen him smile in about a month. I don't know whether I should say he's getting better or not. Because I want to see something, and I'm scared I've imagined it.

He surprises me by grabbing my arm. "Hazel? Can I talk to you?" I nod, letting him lead me into an empty classroom. Phil is there too, he smiles when he sees Dan and I. "You made it." Dan nods, pulling me over to him.

"I just want to say thank you. You guys have done so much for me, I'm still scared. But I'm getting so much better. You guys have brightened up my life, and I don't think I can ever thank you enough." He shuffled his foot, looking at the ground. I jumped into his arms. "Seeing you happy is plenty thanks." He swings me around. He then sets me down and hugs Phil.

"Daniel Howell! Come to class right now young man!" A shrill voice rings through the hallways. We all cringe. "Mrs. Samuels has found me." Dan whimpers, making Phil chuckle. Dan turns around to leave. As soon as he opens the door, she screeches again. "Daniel Howell!" I giggle as Dan covers his ears, smiling just a bit.

The rest of the day went as expected, boring classes with lots of notes passed. Muffling laughter when one of us would make a teacher joke. We were slowly, but surely, getting Dan back.
