The very thing you're using! Ever heard of the tv show "The Internet Ruin My Life."???? Well, all those stories you watch for your own reasons, it's what happens everyday. You don't see the small stories, because neither one of the people that are fighting are famous. 1 minute you could be writing a 'smart' remark to a internet bully, and the next day.......you have the cops on your ass, and people trying to kill you.
Now you may ask, "Why does this have to do with me?" It could happen to you. I know because it happened to one of my friends.
"I'm a good student, I'm a nice person, and I didn't do anything bad to anyone." He said. That's right he. And he just respawned to his bully. His real life bully, said on his photo with him and his sister. He said "The little faggot, with his slutty sister." Yes my friend was openly gay, but his sister was 11. She looked like she was 15, but she was just getting out of 5th grade. This bully didn't know a thing about his sister, or his family, yet he thinks he has a right to say this. My friend, let's call him Foster, Foster replied to this comment with a threat. "If you ever talk about my sister like that, ill kill you on the spot." That's when his life changed. A whole fight online broke out. His bully saying things like "She was screaming my name last night, so I have a right to talk about her that way." When he didn't even know her name. It went as far as someone photoshopping his little 11 year old sister on a head of a naked 16 year old. They tried to make it look as real as possible. His little sister got called a slut by near by middle schoolers. Based on a fake picture. As for the death treat Foster made, the cops were called. A 14 year old boy spent a night in a holding cell because he thought he was speaking up for his sister. The thing that makes it worst.....he drove himself insane. He thought everything was his fault. His sister being called that, for he letting the bully take things worst, for him even being born. A now 15 year old boy, took his own life. Because a bully commented on a nice photo of his sister and him. His sister posted a picture of him, the description said...... "My brother, was my guardian on earth and he is from Heaven. I wish he was here today. I'm sorry for the person who took this as far as death. I pity their parents, if he was my son, I would never let him have another day of freedom without letting him know he took a life." She got some hate for this but she didn't mind. It was the truth. The bully then comment on the post, "I'm sorry for all the pain I caused your family. I haven't been able to sleep knowing this was my fault. I pity my own parents for giving birth to such a monster. I promise, I will leave your family and you alone." She then replied, "The pain will go away, but you have to live with yourself. I'm sorry for that." And that was the end. A life was given to online harassment.
Most of you have clicked off, if you actually read this, you know what can happen due to the Internet.
I've lost a good friend because of one comment. I lost my hope for humanity. The Internet, ruined a whole family. They would like to stay unknown, but they also want you to share this story. Their story to how the Internet killed their son. His sister wants to ask you guys a question, "If someone famous saw this fight go down, would it just go public and people laugh at my brother and called me a slut, or would they sided with him? Be honest. I am really curious, what people would have done after the first comment was posted."
The Internet is a dangerous place, it can ruin your whole life. Just remember, typing your mind, isn't always the best thing to do. You can scream it, just don't type it, to where the world can see it.
Please stay safe on the Internet, and keep your thoughts to yourself if they have just a little bit of chance of hurting another human being.
