Karkat and Dave had been living together for about a year now. They were both very comfortable with each other as well as they were close. Sometimes they annoyed the crap out of each other by making the other listen to their stupid raps or making them sit through a marathon of rom-coms but they secretly enjoyed it. They actually enjoyed every moment they spent with each other no matter how annoyed they got. They both had the biggest crushes on each other but would never admit it and they both wished they could tell each other how they felt but they thought it would just turn into awkwardness and heartbreak.
Karkat had been recently sleeping on the couch. He just thought it was more comfortable and Dave didn't really mind it. Dave had a tv in his room as well as his turntables so he never needed to stay downstairs when Karkles was thought to be sleeping.
Tonight was the same as any other night in their home. Karkat was on the couch trying to get some sleep while Dave was watching a movie in his room. Karkat was staring up at the ceiling in the dark living room with his hands behind his head. He looks around the room and notices the digital clock on the microwave in the kitchen a few feet away from the living room. The clock read 2:56 am. He sighs and stares back up at the ceiling.
Karkat then hears quiet footsteps coming down the stairs that he recognized as Dave's. Dave gets to the bottom of the steps and walks towards the kitchen. He opens the refrigerator door and the light illuminates the room. He takes out a bottle of apple juice and before shutting the fridge door he looks over at Karkat and notices his eyes are open. "Oh, sorry. Did I wake you?" He asked. Karkat shakes his head no. "Can't sleep?" Dave asked him. "Well, I haven't been able to sleep." Karkat responded with a slight sigh. Dave walked over to the end of the couch and Karkat moved his feet so he could sit. Dave sat and looked at Karkat. "Why not?" He asked him. "It's just...the nightmares...." He said. Dave chuckled a bit. "You too, huh?" "You get those?" He asked astonished. Dave nodded. "Well...do you wanna talk about it?" Karkat suggested. "No but can I uh...never mind that was a stupid idea..." He said rubbing the back of his neck. "No...what were you gonna say?" Karkat asked. Dave sighed. "I was just gonna ask if I could...lay here with you...just for a bit...just to try to get some shut eye...But it's totally fine if you say no...!" Dave said with a tiny blush on his cheeks. Karkat chuckles slightly. "Sure...I guess." Karkat said blushing as well. Dave smiled slightly still blushing a bit.
He took the blanket off Karkat and Karkat scooted over. Dave laid down right next to Karkat but put his head on his chest and wrapped his arms around him. Karkat wrapped his arms around Dave as well and they both closed their eyes and smiled slightly. "Thanks, Karkles." Dave says. "No problem, Strider." Without thinking, Karkat then kissed the top of Dave's head. He couldn't resist. Dave was just so close to him and he had to. Dave just blushed a bit more but smiled a bit brighter. He then decided to try something of his own. "Love you, Vantas." He then bit his lip and kind of regretted saying those words. Karkat blushed more and didn't respond still wondering if he heard the right thing. After a few seconds he responded. "Love you too, Strider."
I'm really sorry if you think it sucks because I'm a new writer and this is my first ever oneshot that I've done and this thing was done at like 4 am so yeah.
