Marinette was sitting on top of a roof as ladybug, sobbing quietly in the moonlight. Why? Because she heard Adrien liked someone else. She really did love the boy. She could tell he was lonely and she wished she could comfort him, but she could barely say anything right around him. God she was so so so stupid for thinking she would actually get a chance with him. She was jealous of whoever Adrien liked. Why would a guy like him like a girl like her? She was just plain old Marinette. She was clumsy and forgetful. She was self-conscious outside of her mask, and never did anything right. Maybe Chloé was right all along. All those hurtful things she said, they were all true. Marinette continued to cry, letting her tears flow from her blue eyes, down her mask, and onto the roof. She stiffened when she heard a familiar voice all from the distance. Why does Chat have to be here of all times? Can't she cry in peace?

Marinette quickly dried her eyes as she heard Chat land on the roof, humming to himself. "Good evening my lady, why are you out here all alone so late?" he asked, sitting by her. Marinette looked away, trying to hide her heart-broken expression. "Just needed a break from my civilian life" she murmured, looking down at the empty streets. "I can understand that. Is there something wrong Ladybug? You seem so.... crestfallen" Chat says in a soft voice. He acted like she was made of porcelain, a wrong move can break her to pieces. She held back a sob, surprised Chat could tell how she felt. "I'm.... I'm fine" Marinette responds, her voice cracking. "Ladybug, you and I both know that's a lie" Chat said firmly. He hesitantly put a gloved hand on Marinette's shoulder, patting it for comfort. With his gentle touch, Marinette finally let her sobs out.

Chat was surprised. What could make Ladybug, strong and brave ladybug, so sad? Marinette surprised Chat even further when she suddenly hugged him, her face in the crook of his neck. Chat blushed furiously, even through his suit he could feel her warm breath. He shook away his feelings, and decided to hug Ladybug back, rubbing her back for comfort. " would you tell me what made you so miserable?" Chat asked after a few minutes. " Someone I love l-likes someone e-else" Marinette managed to say, silent tears still ran from her eyes. Chat felt hurt. She loved someone else? Who was this person? He'll ask that later, he decided. "How can someone not be in love with you?" Chat asked, fiddling with ladybugs ribbon. "Chat I'm not who you think I am. I'm not smart or brave like I am when I have this mask on. I'm clumsy and forgetful and I can't even talk to my crush without sounding like a total idiot. civilian ladybug is plain and boring. Nothing special" Marinette whispers, biting her lip to calm down.

Chat couldn't believe what he was hearing. Did ladybug always feel this way about herself? She always seemed so confident and never let anything bring her down. He felt his ears droop down, and he tightened is grip around Ladybug absentmindedly. "Don't say that Ladybug. You're purrfect in every way. You're graceful and brave and smart and definitely beautiful, wearing the mask or not." Chat whispers, moving Marinette to look at him, green eyes staring into blue. She looked shocked for a moment, but gave a small smile. Chat's heart melted at the sight. He grinned in reply, letting her lay her head on his shoulder.

"Oh you silly kitty, who can love plain old Marinette?" Chat didn't think he was supposed to hear that. Marinette muttered that sentence out, making sure she was quiet enough so Chat didn't hear. Chat stiffened a little at those words, a shiver going up his spine. He definitely wasn't supposed to hear that. He wouldn't have, if it wasn't for having sensitive ears like cats. Ladybug was Marinette. Marinette was Ladybug. Sweet, gentle Marinette was brave, fierce Ladybug. Why didn't he ever see this before? Marinette was generous, going out of her way to help someone. The fire in her eyes when she stood up to Chloé, when it came to protecting her friends. How even out of her costume, she tried to help people, even risking her life if she had to. Everything fit, everything made sense. How didn't he see this before?

Marinette was now looking at Chat, who seemed to be thinking. His green eyes glowed a bit in the dark, and his expression seemed to be a whole mix of things at once. "Chat?" she asked quietly, sitting back a bit to see him better. Chat snapped out of it, looking at her. "Y-yeah?" he stuttered, feeling nervous. He was so relived to find out that Marinette was Ladybug. He had started to notice Marinette about a month ago, and he realized he may have a small crush on her. He felt that she didn't like him, because she was always nervous and if he would try to talk to her, she would try to run off. " Are you okay?" she asked, her eyebrow arched to make a questioning expression. "Yeah, I'm fine. I was just wondering, who do you like?" he decided to ask, and her face flushed.

"I'm not sure if you know him, but his name is Adrien Agreste."
