The alarm clock rang loudly, at five in the morning. I woke up with a start.
Huh?
I looked around wildly, trying to remember where i was. My head felt as if it was going to explode. I tried to open my eyes, and saw that i was on the sofa, in the living room. What am I doing here...... I should be in my bedroom. I sat up, rubbed my eyes and tried to remember what happened last night. But first, I think I should get some more sleep. I fell back on the sofa, unable to open my eyes.
Six a.m.
I was woken up by a call. I fumbled around, trying to find the cellphone, my eyes still closed. I knocked down on a glass of water, i guess. Shit!
I managed to grab my phone finally. I opened one eye to see who was disturbing me at this un-earthly hour. I hate waking up so early!
It was Miranda.
"yes, Mindy? what now?", I said groggily.
"Sarah!! wake up, you sleepyhead...", chirped Miranda, "It's six in the morning! I'll be waiting for you at Cafe Town at ten!"
I shut my phone, kept it aside, and went back to sleep.
The cellphone rang again. Oh damn it!
"Hello! Please call later, i'm busy right now!", i said and cut the call again.
The phone rang for a third time. I sat up now, totally irritated and picked up the phone. Some women don't just get it!
"Sarah, sweetheart! we'll be waiting for you! Adriana's coming as well... you gotta come!", said Miranda, even before i could say hello.
"but... i .. i'm sleeping Mindy! and i've got a terrible hangover.... I don't think i can come today", I replied, half-asleep.
"no, you are not!", replied Miranda determinedly, "you will come here today only!".
I stood up from the sofa, walked across the room, almost stumbling over my slippers.
"okayy fine! I'll be coming by 10:30.", i said reluctantly.
You can't really say no to your best-friends, especially if your besties are like mine - Miranda Cole and Adriana Smith. My soul-buddies, my sisters from another mother, my partners in crime.... my life! They will surely drag me out of my home if I didn't go.....
I went to the bathroom, saw my reflection in the mirror and almost recoiled back. Smudged make-up, dishevelled hair, dark circles around my eyes. The memories of last night was coming back to me in bits and pieces......
Last night was girls night out... Okayy, let me rephrase it : most nights now-a-days are girls night out! The only difference between last night and other days, was that, last night we stayed in. In My House.
Miranda had invested in some exotic french wine... she literally spent her entire month's salary to buy it. We decided to finish it in one go. Bad Decision... I was regretting it now - It was definitely a hangover from hell.... I took a glass of water from the kitchen, went to my bedroom and sat on the bed, trying to recall last night's episode.
.....................................................................................................................
We each took a glass of wine filled to the brim, and sat on my sofa, in front of the laptop.
"okayy, so i'm registering us on this site - findyourlove.com", Miranda said triumphantly, taking a long sip of the wine.
"Spare me the horror!", said Addie, who took her glass, and went away to sit in a corner with a girly magazine in her hand. Adriana, who married her college sweetheart, two years back, was still taking time to get into the dating game again. She had caught her husband cheating, was getting a divorce and was in no mood to start dating soon. 'Men are bastards', that's what she always says.
