Hello, my name is Olive Hunter. I'm a trainee at Brooklyn house or a least I was supposed to be. You see I'm different. And this is my story.
I wake up staring at the ceiling. The big white expanse is so plain I have to look down. My room smells like lavender because of the candle I was burning last night. I look in my closet. Ha! My normal clothes are still there. I dress in my black flats that are actually great to run in, some black leggings and a grey tunic shaped t-shirt. Grabbing a black fleece sweatshirt and my olive green bag I look at my watch , dang it! It was 7:45! I was supposed to be downstairs 15 minutes ago! Oops. I sprint downstairs and trip on the carpet sending me flying down the hall. I fell at the end and jumped down the stairs 2 at a time. I see the entire school outside. I slip out the door and in to my seat. Undetected!''
Ms Hunter?'' Carter's voice pierces through the babble of the other trainees. Never mind what I said about being undetected . I'm trying to braid my hair as everyone turns to look at me.'' It seems Ms Hunter considers us worthy of her company everybody" Julian mocked. Come on Olive make something up. I think. ''Umm... I was having a dream. Everybody's eyes widen in surprise.''Go on" Carter says. It was about my parents". I was making this up now. I had lived with abusive step parents as long as I can remember but they don't know that. I look down at the pain au chocolat someone passed me pretending to be sad and embarrassed. Apparently it worked because Bast purred'' Oh Olive don't worry kitten. You'll be okay here we will protect you." I look up at her. When I was looking down at my pain au chocolat I had been making myself cry so when I looked up I had tears streaming down my face. ''Really?" I made my voice sound weak and scared. ''Of course Olive." Carter said. I smiled up at him. Nobody really knows how old I am. I'm short enough to be 8 but smart enough to be 14. I'm actually 11 turning 12 in June. People treat me like a 10 year old so I guess that's okay. Felix was 9 when he came but I still get the same treatment. I stare up at the head of the table. It was obvious that Sadie liked me and Bast agreed. Carter just found it annoying I didn't know the type of magic I would learn.
TIME SKIPPY BECAUSE I SAID SO! BROUGHT TO YOU BY MY LAPTOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carter's class is so boring. It's 2 hours long and he spends 1 hour talking about battle strategy which should be interesting but it wasn't. The second half was killing shabti which was pretty fun. Now Carter talked an hour about using magic from the god you worship to defeat the shabti. I pay attention but when I fight I use a different strategy. I always have a emergency pocket knife in my pocket so I pull it out. We are each given 5 shabti and an hour to defeat them. Really. With my first shabti I danced around until it go dizzy and fell down which made it smash. That didn't make me tired so I asked for my next shabti. The next one I found it's pressure point and pressed really hard. A crack formed and the shabti crumbled in to dust. Satisfied I got another. I was getting lazy so I just stabbed it. The fourth one I just punched really hard. The last one I kicked. It stung a bit but whatever. I looked around and saw that basically everyone was on their third shabti. I sat on the bench and dribbled a basket ball. It had taken me 15 minutes to demolish my shabti.
