Chapter 1: My, Myself, And I
~~~~
I stare out at the luscious greenery outside my window. The trees surround my garden like it's their master and the flowers act like their children. I love the way the trees are free, swaying as they please and the birds going in and out of them. I look down at my book I'm reading, "Divergent". I hate the fact that they are locked up in a little town when there could be a whole world outside of those walls. The fact that they have to be in a faction is stupid. I shake my head. I'm getting ahead of myself. I love this book. I get off my decorative window seat and walk to my room. I open the door and see little miss Ella snooping in my room.
" What do you think you're doing, Ella?"
She looks wide-eyed at me. I cross my arms.
" I-I was just looking at your things cause I want to be like you." She finishes with a smile and a nod.
I roll my eyes at her attempt to lie. Typical 10-year old children. I shoo her out and walk to my beautifully hand-cut desk. The white shimmer reflects off from the sun. I got out my homework and began working. Math. My favorite. Please hint the sarcasm. It takes me about 10 min. for me to finish it. Including checking it even double checking it. I sigh and glance over it one more time. Easy 100. As you can see, I'm typically a person who you call a nerd. I even call myself a nerd sometimes. I know I am. It's just who I am. Bing. I glance at my phone.(Phone Screen)
Unknown Number: Hi Autumn
Me: Do I know you?
Unknown Number: You will soon ;)
My heart stops. It probably just some guy from school trying to get to me. I glance at my phone again and immediately block the number. I shrug the fear off and turn on my music.
"Dinner's ready Autumn!" My mom yells from the kitchen.
"Coming!" I answer back, already on the steps.
My mom probably makes the best food in the history. Definitely Mom of the Year Award any day to her. You're probably wondering why she doesn't stop the bullying. You can't really tell the principal about bullying especially when the bullying is coming from his son. She doesn't want to get in trouble from her boss. Yep that's right. My mom is a teacher. A pretty good one to be exact. My dad isn't really the same job. He's a surgeon. To be more specific he's a brain surgeon. And he gets quite the money. I would say we have the perfect family. My parents love each other to death and there are three children. Ella, me, and Brian our brother who's already in college about to graduate. He's going to be a surgeon like my father.
I look at the delicious food, fuming with all sorts of delicious smells. It's tortilla soup with a salad. My favorite. No sarcasm there.
"How was school today, sweetie?" My mother asks
"Same as the other days I guess." I reply stuffing my face with soup.
"Is he still bullying you?"
"Yep. Probably won't till I'm dead or something like that."
"Don't loose hope honey. He may change."
"I won't. I think he's cut it out recently." I reply not wanting to finish the conversation any longer.
We all eat our meal in peace. Mine probably took five seconds to eat I was so hungry. Colton took my lunch money so I had no food since breakfast. I gulp down the tortilla soup and I start a conversation.
