Time seemed to fly by as Eleanor had awaited her various types of treatments in order to rid of the cancer. The days of chemo were coming too close for comfort as she still dreaded going through the draining procedures. Two months had gone by since April, whenever she first received the news of having leukemia. It was now within the first week of June.
Her body was already visibly weak, with her face flushed of most of it's color. The bags under her eyes looked bad depending on the time of the week. Whenever her sleep was more on a regular schedule, she would look healthy. Other times, people couldn't even begin to decipher how sick she was.
As the sun rose over the cloudy London sky, Eleanor sat alone in her flat awaiting a phone call from Louis. The two had talked various times over the past weeks, but she still hadn't quite managed to give him the news of her sickness. Deep down, she knew that she needed to tell him. In a way, she felt so guilty to keep something so detrimental from him. However, she was informed that it was only a matter of time before he would find out through a different source. She did, after all, have people following her once she was seen in public. Making trips to the hospital was especially hard to hide, as it would soon be more than a coincidence.
Eleanor's phone began to ring, vibrating continuously as it sat on the bed beside her. Louis' name popped up on the screen and she smiled instantly, anxious to hear his voice again.
"Hello?" she said softly.
"Wait...who's this?" Louis said on the other end.
She laughed. "It's El, you fool."
"Oh, oops. I must have dialed the wrong number. I'm actually trying to get in touch with my girlfriend." he said teasingly. "She's this absolutely stunning brunette, about yay big, always has a smile on her face. I think she's missing...I haven't seen her in ages..."
"Ah, you're too much, Louis." she said with a laugh.
"Wait...you sound really familiar...quite like my girlfriend, I think.." he responded.
"Oh my God, Louis." she said, rolling her eyes. "This is Eleanor...that brunette about yay big, with a smile on her face. She actually misses you a lot. More than she'd ever let you know."
"I miss you a hell of a lot too, baby." he finally confessed.
"How are you?" Eleanor asked.
Louis raised his eyebrows. "Eh...it's okay. We're...well, we're doing alright."
"Really? No progression?" she sighed.
"Well, there is so much going on that whenever we get time on our own, everyone just kinda does their own thing.." he explained. "But there isn't much resentment between us...just not much of anything, really."
"Hm. Well, I'm sorry to hear that. I know how much potential you boys have. It just makes me feel a bit disappointed to know that you're all falling away from one another." she said.
"Okay, mother Eleanor..." Louis joked.
"I'm being serious!" she smiled.
"I know, I know. It breaks my heart as well...but there isn't much I can do to control their minds, you know?" he said, sighing.
"So where are you headed off to next?" Eleanor asked him with curiosity.
There was a pause, then Louis laughed. "I'm really not sure about that.."
"Louis, you're in a boyband. You're not a rockstar.." El teased him.
"Hey, now...watch it." he laughed.
