Dipper roamed through the forest, it was only his second day back in Gravity Falls and he was already wandering around in nature. The cheerful songs of the birds, peaceful soft breeze and warm sunlight really made him feel back at home in the sleepy old town.
And Mabel was telling him to do something other than take a walk.
It's not his fault this was his first choice of an activity to do after coming back after all, he didn't have his journals anymore, so that was part of the reason he was just walking down the forest path, he had nothing to do.
Although, admittingly he did enjoy just walking down the trail.
It felt nostalgic, he liked seeing all the birds and trees around him. It told him everything was back to normal, even after the apocalypse happened on year ago.
Dipper stopped walking and shook his head at the memories.
Wow, it really has been a year since all his journeys and mystery solving with his sister.
Thinking about his last summer, it all seemed like it happened way too fast, but maybe it was for the greater good. After all, the Weirdmageddon wasn't exactly an enjoyable experience.
Dipper kept walking, until he heard rustling from some bushes.
He stopped in his tracks and stared, seeing them move again. Worried, he stepped back, careful not to be loud, so whatever was in there wouldn't hurt him.
He kept advancing backwards and found himself falling over some stone object.
"Oh fuCK!" He cried out as he hit the ground and he mentally slapped himself, Mabel would be upset hearing him curse.
He really needed to stop doing that.
His brown bomber hat fell and covered his eyesight. He pushed it back and tried to see what was the source of the noise.
From the bushes emerged a young fawn, strange Dipper had never seen deer around the area before...or maybe he just didn't notice them before?
The fawn locked eye contact with Dipper for a while, as if trying to say something and then scattered off, perhaps to go with it's mother.
Dipper smiled at what happened and forced himself to get up, his legs where stuck in between the stone.
He turned to detach his legs from the object and instantly recognized the stone statue.
This was no ordinary statue, it was Bill Cipher's statue, how did he not recognize it sooner?
He frowned and stood up and examined it closely, trying to see if it was only stone and not some sick trap.
He found nothing and shrugged, it's probably just a symbolic grave.
He lied down next to it and looked at the indigo colored sky, it was already really late. He could spot many stars already and some constellations, including the one sharing his own name.
Feeling in a good mood he started thinking about his past summer and how if it weren't for Bill, many of the events that happened wouldn't have without him.
Guess he had some type of purpose after all, it might not be a very good one, but it's something.
"Heh, you know you caused me a ton of trouble my past summer, with you causing the apocalypse, possessing me and all that." He chuckled softly. "But now that you're gone, all the mystery from this place kinda vanished with you, strange isn't it?"
He faced at the statue and noticed it's outstretched hand.
"I remember when you made that deal with me, believe it or not. It's been a year, but you know what still urks me? You never did fulfill your end of the deal you deceiving piece of trigonometry."
He sat up again and stared intensely at the statue for a while, finding quite a bit of interest in it, not really knowing why.
"If you were still around you'd probably pop out of who knows where and say something along the lines of, 'Oh Pine Tree you want to continue the deal we started? Sure you didn't get what you wanted kid, but neither did I.'" He said trying to mimic his echoey voice, but ended up sounding like he was some drunk hyena.
"'If you want to uncover the last few mysteries of this place you'll have to do something for me, no tricks this time, eye swear.'" He laughed at his impersonation and continued. "I'd probably agree since I'm bored as heck at the moment and I'd shake your hand, to seal the deal like before." He directed his attention to the statue's hand and wrapped his own around it.
"See just like this, huh feels nostalgic in a way..." He said, his voice trailing off, holding on to the hand for a bit before deciding he was done.
But he couldn't get his hand off it.
"Hey what the-" His hands became covered in blue flames, the same flames that would appear when Bill had found a new victim to deceive with his lies and trickery.
"Oh no." He said as the flames grew and a flash of vibrant blue light bursted out, blinding him momentarily.
He rubbed his eyes, trying to stop all the pesky orbs he was seeing, in doing so he realized his hand was free, at least seemed it was.
Blinking while opening his eyes, Dipper squinted and looked in front of him, only to have his jaw drop at the sight and his eyes widen in alarm.
Right in front of him was the dream demon who had haunted his family and him all summer, Bill Cipher. He was floating and glowing as bright as before,
Dipper couldn't believe his eyes, he rubbed them again, and pinched himself. Maybe he just fell asleep and was having lucid dreams? No dice, he was awake alright, so that meant Bill was back.
Filled with dread and utter astonishment Dipper let two simple, but rather offensive words escape his mouth at the sight.
"Holy shit."
