"Scar... Scar?"

That voice... It was so... So graceful... So peaceful... So familiar. It was like my mother's.

And so I called out for her, like I used to do when I was but a "small bean" as my Sister would have described. I would listen for the sounds of her footsteps — recognisable by the grace it carried with them — all afternoon, just waiting for my beloved Mother to come home to play with the little five year old she had at home while at the market.

" No... Not your Mother... I'm sorry..." And then a burning pain seared my heart and I started to tear. "If it'd help, I'd be happy to listen... To... To, you know, what happened?"

This time I looked up at the elderly figure sitting by my side. She looked strangely strong, as if having endeared much hardship, and yet, delicate and frail like that of an old woman suffering from illness. Her clothes were intricately designed and skilfully sewn together, expensive for sure. A wealthy background then?

"Grand mama? Are you in here? I have gr — " a young energetic figure skipped, spring in her step, into the brightly lit room, a smile blooming like flowers on the first day of Spring plastered on her face. She paused as she turned her head toward me. Her step lost its spring as did her smile lose its brightness. She sighed heavily," oh good, you're awake!"

I stared at the elegant lady that stood before me blankly. Was I supposed to introduce myself or something? What was I even doing in these people's house? My head whirred a little as questions oozed in. Soon, my mouth opened and before I knew it, question after question poured out of it.

The lady looked shocked, afraid even. And yet she was calm. " slow down with the questions Scar!" How did she know my name?! I stared at her, eyes suddenly wide with fear and shock. Who on earth were these people and how did they know so much about me?

Suddenly my instincts took over and I leapt forward. You might say I went "savage".
