A huge bump on the road woke me up from a peaceful sleep.

"Honey, we're here! Don't you just love it? The house is so beautiful, it's so grand, it's so.."

Mom rambled on. I'm amazed at her excitement; I mean, she MUST be excited if I could hear her through my headphones! I've got to say, it WAS a beautiful white house. Not to mention, HUGE.

After unloading my things from the moving truck, I settled in my room, again, it's so spacious.. So empty. Like how I felt. It's hard to move schools, especially before senior year. My heart and chest feel so heavy. I know leaving is better for me, but right now? It just didn't feel like it. I guess just need time.

I flipped open my MacBook and typed in my new school's website. Johnston High School. "i hope i can make it by.."

My old high school life was horrible. I need to escape that, forget it, and be happy. This is the beginning, and I've fulfilled everything that needed to be done.. I'm just waiting for the happiness to finally kick in.

~a week later~

I woke up, brushed my teeth, got dressed, and headed out. "I'm so nervous.." I headed up the school's steps and went straight to my class. I want to get there early so I don't have to deal with the bell madness. My first class is AP Chem. as I opened the door, I noticed a boy in a sweater vest and huge glasses that made him look adorable. I assumed he loved gel because of how back his hair was.

I entered and sat down in the way front. I took out my binder and began to work on the assigned pages on the board. "Best to get ahead." I thought.

I heard lots of shifting behind me. "What's this kid doing?" I turned and saw him staring straight at me. He was adjusting his position, and I must've startled him because he fell off of his chair.

"Oh my gosh, are you alright?" I went over to help him up.

"Y-yes, thank you. Sorry, nervous nerves.." He mumbled and dusted off his vest while picking up his glasses from the floor. His piercing green eyes were absolutely stunning, practically breathtaking, so alluring and..

"Ahem.." He cleared his throat, bringing me back to reality in an instant.

"O-oh yeah. Don't worry. I'm nervous too. I'm new here."

"I know you are. I would've remembered you." He smirked and nervously laughed. What's this guy talking about? He's an adorable dork with an impressive way with words.. Don't tell me this school's AP English teaches you how to spit game.

"Is that so?" I tried to play along.

"Yeah, not a lot of girls here dress like you do, that's why." Oh. Of course. Not a flirt, but honest.

"Oh, yeah. I'm Aveline." I gave him a smile.

"I'm Marcel. Nice meeting you.." He quickly put his head down and went straight to work.

As soon as I returned to my seat, the bell sounded. The entire class time, I felt someone staring at me. There's something about Marcel that makes everything iffy. As classes flew by and the school day soon ended, I managed to make some friends; talk about progress. I went to my locker to store some books and binders, when I noticed that a few lockers from mine was Marcel's. Boy, he had so many books.

"Hey!" Again, I startled him and he dropped some of the novels he was holding. I let out a laugh and helped pick them up.

"I love this book." I gazed at Cormac McCarthy's beautiful composition, 'The Road.'

"Do you really?" He gave me a huge smile and his dimples were prominent. He was beaming.

"Yeah." I stared in awe. This guy's actually really cute, y'know, underneath that huge pair of thick framed glasses and overlaying sweater vest.

We spent the next twenty minutes or so talking about books, my classes, and he showed me a bit of the school. He's actually really interesting. It's weird, if you think about it. His voice doesn't fit his appearance, then again, I shouldn't judge him. Although.. He is pretty cute.

"It was nice talking to you. See you tomorrow." He smiled and his dimples are just too cute. I smiled back and headed the opposite direction.

There's something about him. I like it.
