It’s amazing how much,
One sentence can change your life
Fat, ugly, the insults keep coming,
The words that cause so much strife,
You can still hear the taunts,
that your tormentors whisper at school,
You tell yourself not to listen,
That they’re just trying to be cool,
It can be hard enough,
to bear the rumours with your friends
But when the rumours follow you home,
You struggle to meet mean’s ends.
You’re scared to open your computer,
to even glimpse at the screen,
It’s so hard to hold your head up high,
When the only things you see are mean,
But not knowing hurts more,
You know everyone else has looked
But then you see the status, the comments
and likes,
And you know they have you hooked
So you keep scrolling,
Your eyes filling with tears,
It’s worse then you feared.
You try your best to ignore it,
you can still feel the pain,
slit wrists, no joy,
what could you ever gain?
You can’t take it anymore,
It’s too hard being brave,
So you write the note, you tie the knot,
They’ve driven you to your grave.
You’re just about to take the leap,
To plunge into the unknown,
But then you remember your friends, your family,
And know that you are not alone.
