Chapter one

The move.

"Dylan lets go!" My grandmother, Nana, called from downstairs. "Coming!" I yelled back. Today was moving day. We were moving to New York. I suppose I should be happy we were moving from the small town of Thornton Texas, population 526. I mean everyone knew everyone here so moving to a huge place would be an advantage. Nobody knew me or Nana and no one knew about the struggles we've faced. I looked around the room that had been mine for 17 years I was going to miss this place. I jogged down the stairs and hopped into the truck. We had a long drive.

2 days later:

"Wake up sleepy head" Nana gently nudged my shoulder. "I'm up, I'm up." I replied while yawning. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and looked up at our new home. It was beautiful and huge. Two stories but 6 bedrooms. I hopped out of the truck and ran inside. "Nana, I exclaimed, which rooms mine?" "Upstairs last door at the end of the hall sweetums." Nana replied. I took off like a bullet. I ran up the stairs and walked to the last door. I opened the door and stepped inside, shutting the door behind me. I was not prepared for this. The room was huge, at least three times bigger then my old room. I scanned the room noticing three doors. I opened the door nearest to me and to my delight it was a bathroom. The bathroom was painted in sea blues and looked like the ocean. There was a huge jacuzzi tub and a shower! Further down there was a door that led to the toilet. I walked out of the bathroom and went to the second door I saw. I opened that one and to my amazement there was the biggest walk in closet I've ever seen in my life! To my surprise the entire closet was filled with clothes, shoes, purses, scarves, and jewelry. I quickly walked out convinced this couldn't be my room. I quickly jerked open the third door and found a beautiful private deck. It had a cute little table and chairs along with a tanning chair, little couch, and two lounge chairs. It was absolutely stunning. There was no way this was mine. " I know what you're thinking sweets, but everything in here is yours." Nana whispered from behind me. I jumped a little. " Nana, we can't afford this, I mean all those clothes and such it's too much." I replied. " your parents sent  them. And a check for anything else you might need or want." Nana replied guiltily. I was seething! " oh so now they think they can buy me off? I think not" I all but screamed at Nana. " Dylan, I know how your feel honey, but it's the least they can do for you." " NO, they abandoned me as soon as they found out I wasn't perfect leaving you to raise me, and they think they can just pay you and me off, for what? To make em' feel less guilty about what they did and continue to do?" I screeched. "Dylan, lower your voice. I know how you feel, but at least they are doing something. Just accept it and move on." Nana calmly replied. "Fine" I huffed.”Now , go look around ,three of the six bedrooms are yours.” “Nana, three bedrooms, for what?!” I exclaimed. “your bedroom, your dance/workout room, and of course your safe room.” Nana replied excitedly. I couldn’t help but getting excited. Three whole rooms to myself! I went off to explore the rest of the house and sighed with contentment. This house was beautiful even if my Sleazy parent’s paid for it. Later that night after I had everything unpacked in my room and my walls covered with pictures of Mason, my best friend, and I, I went downstairs for dinner. Nana already had the table set and was just serving the food. I sat down in my chair with a sigh. “What’s wrong pumpkin?” Nana asked me. “just a little tired Nan.” I replied with a meek smile. Nana didn’t say anything just looked at me with worry in her eyes. After dinner I did the dishes and then went upstairs to sleep. As I was walking up the stairs Nana called after me , “Don’t forget we have a doctors appointment at nine sweets.” I sighed, “I know.” I grabbed my Iphone 5 a gift from Mason and saw I had 3 Missed calls from Mason. Shit, I thought as I dialed Mason’s number. “Hey Mase, What’s up? You called?” “Yea I was worried, you didn’t text me. he replied worry tinging his voice.” “I am so sorry Mase I’ve just been really busy. I really need to get to bed, I have an early morning but I will text you tomorrow. Love you Mase. “love you too.” he replied. I got into my new pajamas and crawled into my new bed. I was so exhausted that as soon as my head hit the pillow I was out like a light.
