Allison's POV

I smooth out the black fabric, fussing over every individual crease. My hair is pushed over to one side, a basic formal hairdo. I sigh and leave my room, coming out to the living room where Jules waits. He's dressed nicely in a navy shirt and black slacks. On his arm is a black suit jacket, and his tie sits messily around his neck. I walk up to him and grab his tie, tying it for him.

I peer up at him through my lashes, my lips curving into a smile. He smiles back and extends an arm.

"Shall we?"

I laugh and loop my arm in with his and we exit his apartment.

I place another piece of steak into my mouth, Diane sauce dripping deliciously off my fork. I stifle a moan again as the meat melts in my mouth. I look up at Jules who is watching me eat.

"Stop watching me. Perv."

He smirks and eats another piece of his own steak. He scrapes the onions off the top and dips it into his mushroom sauce.

"How long have you lived here?" I ask, picking up a chip and biting into it.

He pauses and looks back up at me.

"I think I've been here for the past 10 years maybe? I was in a more permanent place over in England but I ran into some...problems."

"Crazy ex-girlfriend?" I ask, eating another piece of steak.

He chuckles lightly.

"Try 3. Guess I should pick more wisely."

I pause for a second and lower my fork before continuing on with my dinner. Julian's phone buzzes and he looks up apologetically.

"Sorry, I really need to take this."

I nod in understanding and he excuses himself from the table. He heads outside and quickly pulls his phone up to his ear, talking to whoever it is. He seems angry, but also stressed. What could be giving him anxiety? I hope my presence is not causing any delays in the things he's supposed to be doing. Oh shizzle, I didn't even think that I could be a problem. Why didn't I think of that sooner?

"Hey, I'm really sorry but I have to cut this short, it's an emergency." He doesn't even look apologetic anymore, it just seems like he wants to get away from everyone. Who was on that call?

I nod and smile weakly, watching as he runs off. A waiter comes up to my table and hands me the unpaid check.

"Here you go madam." He says politely, waiting patiently.
