"Alexa, shut up!" Meagan yelled at her little sister as she got off of the floor after having tripped over a power cord. Alexa continued to laugh at her sister and Meagan eventually joined in.
"What am I gonna do with you, you little brat?" Meagan said teasingly. Alexa stroked her chin as if being deep in thought and eventually said,
"Love me forever and ever. Duh!"
Despite being upset for having to cancel her previous plans with her boyfriend, Meagan was happy to babysit her sister. They had a bond that no one could understand. Meagan loved her little Alexandria as if she were her own child. Their mother was a big hot shot lawyer who was rarely home.
"This isn't over, baby don't believe a word they said!" Danny's beautiful screamed from Meagan's phone somewhere on the couch.
"Alexa, how about we make cookies? Go in the kitchen and get the stuff out. DON'T touch the oven, okay?" Alexa ran off to the kitchen squealing joyfully. Meagan picked up her phone and said,
"Hello, this is Wayne's Whore House? You got the dough, we got the hoes."
"Oh, really now? If that's the case, there's this girl I hear works there. She's the most beautiful girl on this planet; practically a goddess. She has long, straight dirty blonde hair, and beautiful, stormy gray eyes. I seem to have fallen in love with this particular girl and I was devastated when she canceled on me tonight. Is there anyway you could let her know that I'm dying to see her?" Ryan said. Meagan's heart swelled up inside of her chest. Ryan was perfect in so many ways, and she hated making him upset. She's loved him since they first met in the third grade out on the playground. Now, they had been dating for two years and everything was perfect.
"I happen to know exactly the girl you're referring to," Meagan said with a slight purr,"she wants me to tell you she misses you. A lot." Ryan chuckled and then sighed loudly.
"Babe, I need to see you! It's been, what, two weeks since we've been on a date?"
"I'm watching Alexa. You know I wouldn't cancel if it weren't important."
"Well, can I come over? I need to give you something."
"Fine, but only for a little while."
Meagan hung up and held her phone to her chest. She was so busy daydreaming about Ryan she didn't notice Alexa standing in the kitchen entryway. Meagan got up and started in the cookie batter. After she turned the over on she heard a honk come from outside.
"Alexa, I'm gonna step outside for a second. Don't do anything until I come back," Meagan told her before stepping outside and running to Ryan's Mustang.
"Meagan, you're beautiful," Ryan said while grabbing her face and pulling her into a long awaited kiss. He pulled back and rested his forehead against hers.
"I love you, you know that right?" He said softly.
"Yeah, I know."
"Well, there's something I wanna ask you," he stated softly. Meagan held her breath. What was he going with this?
"I was wondering if yo- Is that smoke coming from your house?" he said abruptly.
"What?" Meagan said, turning around and seeing the black smoke come from the open kitchen window. Meagan took off and ran through the front door straight to the kitchen finding it empty of both Alexa and the cause behind the smoke.
"Alexa?" Meagan called out. No answer.
"Alexa!" she said more frantically. Still no answer.
"Alexandria Marie! Answer me!" Meagan yelled. Ryan came behind her and grabbed her arm to stop it from shaking.
"Alexa! Where are you?" Meagan was terrified now. Alexa was nowhere to be found and the smoke was getting thicker. It was hard to see, but she managed to make her way upstairs and into Alexa's room. There, lying in the bed, was Alexa. She isn't moving! Meagan screamed inside of her head. She tried to get closer, but the carpet burst into flames, forming a perfect circle around the bed.
"Alexa! Can you hear me?" Meagan choked out. She was on all fours now. She could faintly hear someone downstairs, but she couldn't do anything other than stare at her poor baby sister's body being swallowed by the flames. She crawled. She didn't know exactly what she would do if she made it to the fire, but she didn't even make it four steps before she collapsed onto the ground, unconscious.
