"Howdy! I'm Kat and may I say you look lovely today!" She smiled widely, her voice full of excitement. "What's your name,Miss?"
It is very rare for me to speak to a soul. Most are not capable and the ones that are simply weep. So imagine my surprise when this child's soul spoke to me,asked me my name, and told me I looked lovely. For a second I was stunned, took me a few moments to answer.
"Hello,Kat. I am Death and I'm here to collect you. As you can see," I gestured to her corpse,"it is your time." She looked down at the corpse and nodded. She stared at it, thinking. I watched her silently, analyzing her reactions.
"Miss Death, may I know how I died?" Kat asked, kneeling down to examine her body more closely. This, asking about her own death, was unusual. I had never needed to know how they died or why. I just came for the soul and left so I could not answer Kat question. From the looks of it I'd say foul play was involved. I remember her frown when I told her these things, the way she wrinkled her nose and clicked her tongue in displeasure. "That won't do at all! I have to know how I died before moving on." She got up and began walking, looking back to see if I was following. "Come on!"
If anyone asked me why I followed her, hurried after this small child, I wouldn't be able to answer them,at least not very well. I guess you could say I was curious. Yes,very curious and I wanted to know more. More about Kat,her death, and her curiosity. So I followed her out of the woods and into the town. Down each street, into each alley she ventured through and past each shop.
I followed her.
