The silence was deafening. When I could no longer bear it, I got up and switched on the light. The sudden brightness blinded me for a moment and when my eyes finally adjusted themselves I took note of my surroundings. My room was a complete mess. My belongings covered every inch of the room lying around haphazardly. I turned around to find pieces of shattered glass lying on the floor and looked up to find the floor length mirror broken. I stood in front of it, examining myself from what was visible. My brown hair was a complete mess, tangled and all. My eyes were bloodshot and puffy. I stared at my broken self for a while before turning back and sitting on the bed. My head throbbed, probably from the lack of food in my system. The dull ache in my wrist was finally starting to make itself known. The wounds on my wrist had sealed themselves up but the dry blood still clung to my skin. After registering my current situation and completely analyzing my environment, I whispered to the loneliness around me, "You were wrong. You all were. I was not messed up."

I took in a deep breath," But I am now."
