Chapter 2

After walking through the woods for an hour, I found the entrance to my underground home. I stepped on the small switch that opened the ramp, and walked in, Maddie still over my shoulder, unconscious. She suddenly stirred, which caused me to jump and drop her. I was shocked at myself. I never jump like this... I must be low on my blood supply.

I looked to the helpless girl on the ground. I could easily suck her dry now... But I'll wait. I want her alive when I do it. I looked around, and went to the fridge, taking a blood pack from the bottom shelf. I popped my fangs out, and sank my teeth into the plastic, drinking the blood. The girl stirred again, and I spun around, watching her. I can't leave her out here... but I only have one room... ropes? I stepped over to the small broom closet, and searched it for anything to tie her hands and feet with. Nothing.

"Dammit," I muttered, closing the door. She yelped, and I snapped around, facing her. She had pressed herself against the wall, and was staring at me with wide eyes. I must have looked pretty funny, being that I had a flat blood pack hanging from my mouth and fangs. But then again, I probably looked more intimidating that funny. I have fangs.

She whimpered, and sank down to the floor in the corner. I sighed, and dropped the blood package to the floor, my fangs still out and my hair falling in my face. "Don't freak out, I'm not gonna eat you. Yet." I chuckled, turning back around.

"W-what do you mean... Yet?" She said, her voice small and soft. I shuddered. Cold chill? No... I'm always cold... Then... Uh... Warm chill?

"I'm debating killing you, that's what I mean, girl! Now hush, before I just do it now. Enjoy your last few moments." I said harshly, not sure if I meant any of it. I'm second guessing myself... What's wrong with me?

She continued to stare at me curiously, but nodded, her hands in front of her mouth. She was shaking slightly, I could tell... she was scared. I turned around, and she stiffened up, watching me step closer and closer to her. "Let me ask you this, Maddie... are you afraid of me?" I grinned, leaning over her. She shook her head, and said no, but it was muffled by her hands. I snatched the front of her shirt, pulling her up so we were directly face to face. "Why not, little one? I snarled.

"Because I'm not afraid to die." She said simply, looking me straight in the eyes. This took me by surprise, and I raised my eyebrows, dropping her. I turned around, biting one nail. I've got one that's not afraid of dying? Maybe I won't kill her! Don't give her what she wants!

I bet her blood tastes amazing... Kill her now... Get it over with...

No you don't, she's only seventeen, got so much ahead of her...

Shut up! Kill her!

No! You need to keep this one. She's different...

I fell to my knees, rubbing my blood red eyes. I looked up, and to my surprise, one eye was bright blue, the other dark, blood red. I gasped, and rushed forward to the mirror, inspecting it. "What the-" I started. But I was cut off by an odd sensation through my body. I had goosebumps. "What!?" I exclaimed, bringing up my sleeves. "No! Not possible!" I looked at myself, my skin pale blue. "Why-" the girl whimpered from behind me, and I instantly shut up. I turned around, glaring at her. "What did you do?!"
