Leeroy stared at the tree. He walked towards it and put his hands on it. He couldn’t believe that this was meant for him. But yet again, who else had the name Leeroy? He stared at the arrow with wide eyes. It was carved, so it obviously meant something. He put his palms on it. It pointed to the right. He knew he was meant to follow it. He looked to the right.

There was nothing there of importance. He followed the trees, carving an X into each one he passed as a marker. He walked and walked, noticing no dramatic changes in the environment. All he noticed was that the moss was getting thicker, and the autumn leaves on the ground were damp. His eyes started to water. He started to think that this was a trick that Lucian pulled.

He started throwing sticks, rocks, and pinecones in anger. Tears were running down his face. How could he have been so stupid? He was in the middle of a forest. Nobody was out here with him. Nobody. He was alone. He was just a ten year old kid in the woods. He was stupid to think he could survive at all.

Suddenly, he noticed a faint glowing in the distance. His eyes widened, thinking that maybe this was what he was supposed to find. He stood up and wiped the tears from his face. He hesitated before following it.

He walked about ten feet, when the ground started shaking. Leeroy panicked, and tried to run, but the ground collapsed completely. He grabbed the side of the ground, but it collapsed as well, and he felt like he was falling to his death.

But suddenly, he stopped falling. He was flying. He felt like he was as light as a feather. He slowly let himself into the water that was underneath the ground. The water was glowing a faint greenish-blue. Leeroy’s body started glowing as soon as he touched the water.

He looked at his arm, but a sudden movement made him jump. There was a woman with a hood covering her face standing in front of him.

She smiled. “Hello, Leeroy. Welcome to my cave.” She continued to smile, but Leeroy glared.

“Why’d you make me fall? I could’ve died!” The woman just laughed.

“You won’t die, Leeroy, not here. This isn’t where you’ll be risking your life.” Her eyes seemed to glow, more than the water.

Leeroy just stared. He didn’t understand. Neither of them spoke for almost a whole minute. When he finally spoke, his voice was quiet. “What do you mean, this isn’t where I’ll be risking my life? I’ve been risking my life for a week now. There’ll be another place where I’ll be riskin’ my life?”

The woman nodded. “Yes, there will. You’re one of the Superiors.” She smiled sadly, but Leeroy just stared. He was very confused.

“What do you mean, I’m a ‘Superior’? What does that even mean? I’m not superior to anybody. I’m always inferior, and I had to run away from home because of it.” His eyes started to water. He hated thinking about that day last week.

The woman’s smile faded, and her eyes glowed even brighter. They looked like they were X-raying Leeroy. She sighed before answering. “It was your destiny for you to run. You’re one of the chosen four kids who are Superiors. You will all arrive here. You were the first to start your journey to this cave. You have a very important, but dangerous, destiny. Have you noticed the Earth shaking lately?” Leeroy nodded, and so did the woman. She continued, quieter. “You and the other three children will be the ones to stop it. You have the power to stop the world from ending.”

Leeroy backed away, shaking his head. “How can I? I don’t have power! I’m just a wimpy kid. I can’t save the world. It’s gonna end. There’s nothing anybody can do about it! It’s inevitable!!” His eyes seemed to glow with anger, when the ceiling collapsed.
