* Annabeth POV *

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back it up." Apollo said. "Firstly: you're married?! Secondly: YOU'RE MARRIED?!""Alas, yes," Chaos sighed miserably. "Born married. A curse that must be borne."
Hera scowled and crossed her arms with a hmph! of indignation.
"Caligo? Why have I never heard of this primordial?" Athena said with a rare expression of bemusement.
"Because up to this point in time, I saw no reason for anyone to know of her existence." Chaos said. "But now, I fear that may have been a grave mistake."
"See," he said, "before the Void, there was nothing. Not a single thing. And then there was the Void, which popped into existence out of nothing. And after the Void, she sprung from the murky waters of being. She was the first. Then I came. I was the second."
"Two beings?" Artemis said. "From one source, like Apollo and I?"
Chaos grimaced, acknowledging the implied question that Artemis had asked, "Balance. The universe likes and needs to have balance. A good and bad. A light and dark. Up and down, left and right, one and many. It's the same reason why you and your brother were born twins. We, Caligo and I, are both the Primordials of the Void. It is our domain and birth place. But we represent the opposite aspects of it. I am order and creation. She is chaos and destruction."
"So why is your name Chaos?" Dionysus yawned. "Shouldn't you be called Order or something stupid like that?"
"My name signifies from where I came. From chaos thus forth comes order." Chaos answered.
"And Caligo, that means 'darkness' or 'gloom' in Latin." I cried suddenly, my mind racing at a million miles per hour. "She's your opposite. The yin to your yang. Darkness came from her."
Chaos nodded.
"Alright, alright", Zeus said grumpily, "that all makes sense, but I have to ask: if this Caligo is so powerful, where has she been all these millennia, and how and why has she returned now?"
"I don't know exactly where she's been or how she's returned, but I have some notions as to why, which is the only question of importance at present."
Chaos went silent for a second then continued, "She has returned to destroy everything. She has no intentions of conquering like Kronos, Gaea, or Ouranos- no, she was not born for that. She intends for the Void to swallow everything and everyone. And if it does, it will eradicate it all from existence. Nothing will remain."
The room went deathly silent as everyone digested his words. The prospect of ceasing to exist was terrifying, especially for the gods who had been around since the Golden Age.
"But... how do Ouranos' and Gaea's attack on Mount Olympus play into that? What was its purpose?" Artemis asked.
"Its purpose was to distract, I believe. So that my two best commanders, Percy Jackson and Nico DiAngelo, would not be around to defend the Chaos stronghold from her offensive."
It was like a punch to the stomach, hearing Percy's name. The air rushed out of my lungs. I closed my eyes to steady myself. Now was not a time to have a mental breakdown. I breathed in. The tears went away. I opened my eyes and kept on. Like I'd been doing for the past year.
